Right. So.

While I was in England, we came up with this idea. You see, there are certain things that you can get in some countries, but not in others. And that sucks if you happen to live in a country where you want a certain thing, but can't get it.

For example, I love Smarties. Can't get them in the U.S. BamBam loves black beans, but can't get them in the U.K.

Sooooooooooooooo...

Let's set up an exchange system. This thread will be a sort of "want-ad" thread where someone wanting a certain good from a certain country can post what they want and then can arrange with someone else (preferably by PM's so as to avoid cluttering this thread) to arrange a trade. For example, BamBam would send me a case of Smarties and I would send her a few pounds of dried black beans (or York Peppermint Patties or Twinkies or whatever else she might want).

There is ONE RULE: nothing illegal. Please show respect for Malcolm and for all of us and keep any illegal activities off the board.

As for the logistics, that is for you and your trade partner to figure out. For inexpensive trades (Smarties for York Peppermint Patties), you probably don't want to exchange money. However, for something expensive (like absinth) you probably want to arrange to send money to the person who's going to buy it unless you're sending them a lot of Vegemite.

Do people understand the basic idea?

(Oh, and about the legality of absinth: it's legal to possess in the U.S., but not to sell.)

NYC tried this years ago with T-shirts we didn't want too...like a clothing exchange so that we can all wear each other's funky threads (and we discussed signing them, so you would know the origination). Might be fun to revive that in this thread as well.

On Absinthe...Mike, it is illegal to import absinthe without paying a duty on it however. And in some states, possession of it is illegal. People need to really be careful with the whole alcohol-legalities thing, so I would rather just leave that off the list please.

Other than that....have at!
Reminder: All personal shipping details need to be shared in a secure manner, not directly on the board.

Just a little FYI for my friends... I work at a company called Amurol Confections as an intern. It is a sub-company of Wrigley. Essentially, I am the gum guy! Bubble Tape is our main product, but we also deal in hard candy, multiple other types of gum, squeeze pops (deliciously decadent) and other novelties. Wrigley Products only, but I am able to get them at a very reasonable price when I don't just get em for free, so if anyone likes American gum chances are I can get it.

As for myself, I am addicted to Transformers. The more complex, the better. However, the best stuff is in Japan right now... can anyone hook a brother up?

Anyone like drum & bass in the US?

There is a US D&B producer in the called Hive

I love his stuff but can't find it in the uk. However, I can get plenty of excellent UK d&b so I'd like to do some kind of swap? I'm really after an unmixed cd of his most driving, dancable tunes (an album or whatever) but vinyl is fine too.

If you want any Hive tunes on vinyl visit www.chemicalrecords.co.uk or www.redeyerecords.co.uk and there's plenty there. I recommend getting his newest with Keaton called 'The Plague' (flipside is the resolution) it's on Renegade Hardware and it's a really flithy little number, right up your street if you were a fan of Surreal Killer!

Apart from that he's been doing a few tunes for a number of EP's,look out for the damaging new Sector 4 EP on Advanced recordings.

Hope that helps Jo, give me a PM if you need any dnb related info.
