Please forgive me if this has been discussed before.. be gentle with me.. im a newbie.

juggle I'm just interested in where people practise spinning? weavesmiley

Ok so some of you may never need to practise coz ur already DAMN good anyway.. but hey!! biggrin

For instance, when I'm at home I spin in my front room, or when I'm at my Grandparents I spin outside.. got LOADS of space...

Still not sure which is easier.. at my Grandparents the dog pesters me to just let go of the poi so he can go n run after it.. *silly thing*

I spin outside as much as possible, I have difficulty finding locations with high enough ceilings. Only problem is spinning in winter, I was fire spinning as it was snowing last night and it was beautiful but I kind of frost burnt my hands.
My recommendation for indoor spinning is look into local schools or YMCA's that sometimes have some time availible for performers to practice in.

I like to spin in my kitchen - to really have a motif spinning consciously...

But for training, I prefer like next to or in front of a wall...

EEK!!

I couldnt possible imagine doing it in my kitchen.. there is hardly enough room to swing a pan at the person that dares enter the kitchen when im cooking never mind spinning.. HAHA

I dont spin with tails on indoors.. seems to be more difficult grr..

I guess I'm lucky..
At home, we have a full wall mirror/sliding door for our closet, so I sometimes turn off the lights and spin there.. Also have a open landing at the bottom of the stairs, with some reflective picture frames that I'll use when just needin a quick fix :P. And, of course, I spin in my car port, since my yard is wonky and eats ankles.

At work, on break I'll spin in the parking lot when the weather is nice (get lotsa odd looks). We also have a large exercise area with a full wall mirror and hardwood floors at work, so I spin there in bad weather (until the yoga ppl kick me out)..

Last night I had a dream of playing fire in bed (not alone) (*contrib. to fire safety rules*: with the extinguisher standing on hold next to us...)

you know, like mixed double (one staff, two poi... wink )

has this been done before?

Span in my college lesson earlier while we were waiting for some people to turn up. I lost one of my beanbag poi & my firepoi reek of paraffin so I made myself some practice glowsticks out of a small bit of dowel and some string, they fit in any of my pockets which is a bonus.

People who break lightbulbs - get a discreet lampshade perhaps? I accidentally hit mine frequently never done anything to it.

I practice at the juggling club that I'm part of. Loads of people do different things, and poi happens to be one of them. We practice in the lobby of the phys ed building of the university (also known as our treehouse, depending on the day), or at one of the parks if it's lovely and nice out. We go out to the beach and have fire parties sometimes as well. Since burning has picked up in the club, bonfires will never be the same... =)

I'd like to point out that the 'where do you spin' thread, although quite useful, refers to fire whereas this seems to be practice-based. The 'where do you practice spinning' thread fits the bill but it's just a list of people telling eachother where they spin, which is all very nice but that's all it does, despite having been going for nearly three years. This thread, however, hit 2 months yesterday and already there's been some advice on making practice glowsticks from Geoffon and some actual advice from The Misguided Oracle, about where's best to practice to sort out your planes. Seems to me there's a lot more of interest here than in the other threads smile I'd second what TMO said anyway. I usually practice in the corridor at our halls. It's really narrow so at first you're bouncing off the walls all the time but after a while you get conditioned out of it, which is handy wink
