Posted: Well, ok then I'm not new to HOP but in fact i discovered that I had registered 8 months earlier than my previous incarnation and had forgotten about it!!! All I had to do was figure out my old password and bingo! Look it's taken my membership number down to the 10,000 mark, cool huh?
It's been a while since my original intro thread so for anyone who is interested: I'm in my early twenties and live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I work for a performance company, in a bookshop and sort of run a little business. I think I am an open, relaxed and slightly grumpy person who is carefully, over the years, picking up more and more quirks until at some point I will finally become an interesting person. That or I will be committed. My favourite colour is red or yellow and blue together
Oh yeah and my favourite HOP hobbies is trying to create the most pointless HOP thread that still has a point...

Hmmm....fire walking sticks, interesting. How would you do it, metal or wood?

Posted: well, it's all very theoretical (i.e I'd have to learn a lot about how you could use them to understand where to put the wicking/ what potential problems might be)
but I would say a combination of metal and wood to stop the heat transfer, as you would want wicking and heavy duty metal on the 'floor' end. However, I'm not sure of the difficulties inherent in making something with curves.
Also something you might want to consider: if you use the sticks for assisted acrobatics, will it be safer and more effective if they're made of wood? as this will have a little more 'spring' than metal, I would've thought. But then it depends how well the wood or metal will hold up to taking someone's weight on it. It'd require some research into the whole buckling/bending side of it.
Then if you were really into burning yourself, you could attach a wick to the tip of the handle end, making for pretty fire patterns but a high danger to use ratio.
hope you get a chance to chill out over christmas, dude!
