No, I'm not suggesting that I'm even close to a gymnast. My doctor once called me the 'least flexible person ever.'

But there are some elements that can be used with poi/staff/hoop or whatever.

So for copious videos of underweight chicks doing crazy stuff with balls, hoops, and clubs check out...

Make sure you watch some "group" videos (like the ones in Budapest 03)... they're craaaazy. ubbloco

The club spinning videos are nothign like what I thought they would be.

There are more arty farty body positions and loits of jumping up and down.

biggrin

Cheers for the link to that site though NYC.

i can't come to think of anything more "arty farty" than Rythmic Gymnastics.... but i've just come to realize... Me likes! wink

the 5-ribbons-stuff is incredible... think that, with a little less dorky stuff, and some cool house-music. and nice costumes.... ME LIKES!

Wow...some of those videos are quite impressive.

I agree with the general "arty farty" reply... but it's quite refreshing to see something quite "similar" in ways to our arts, done so differently.

My mom has mentioned that... I loved gymnastics and such, but i was alwasy glued to the rythmic competiton... I guess it was predetirmined that i'd love this stuff. Iused to have a BAJILLION ribbon dancers, and this hoop with these smaller rings, and you'd strike the rings off in one direction to get them spinning, than you's turn the hoop steadly and keep the rings poised at acertian point on the hoopand it would keep them suspended, i think they had some sort of threads int he center that kept them spinning at that one point, but once you got good at keeping them in place you coudl toss the hoop, catch it and keep it going and switch hands, spin it a little extra, etc...
i've always loved doing things with stuff.

that which yeilds is not always weak.
