Hello everybody, I'm a poi-newbie from Finland! After discovering firepoi in Thailand I luckily found my way to HOP. I spent a month on Koh Tao and Phi Phi (those people are constantly on my mind these days, there's not much left of PP *sigh*) in Oct/Nov 2004 and I was so fascinated by the fire shows!!! Now I'm continuing the practice, but I need to find people with the same hobby in Finland, especially in Tampere, so if anyone... anyone, let me know!
I'm a 25-year-old university student, I've lived in Germany altogether two years before (school&work). Just six weeks ago I came back from South-Korea, where I spent 16 months studying. I'm planning to change my location soon again, this time to Canada.
I guess you can tell I love travelling and exploring the world. There's so much to see, so much to do. I love (fire)poi, music, foreign languages etc.
Anyway, enough about me I guess... I guess this is the right forum to find more poi-ppl

Actually, the first time ever I saw someone twirling poi was in a park in Köln summer 2002 - then got bit by the poi bug last November. It's addictive, nobody told me that before

So regarding a trip to Finland - so far it is more of a "May theis summer I should go see more of Finland than just Helsinki" type of thing.

Well, I haven't been here for quite a while now. But, I've been playing with fire anyways
Some pictures to see at the Picasa Web Album. The two pictures that are totally different from the others, are taken November 2004 (also my avatar comes from one of them) on the sunny beach of Koh Tao, Thailand. The rest was at -13C here in Finland in January this year. And yes, at one pic you can see an "oops" No damage though, just burnt a bit of my hair. It was damn cold while not being able to wear anything thick or any gloves. But I twirled 2x5min.A week before that I performed at my friend's birthday party, also outside, it was -18C. She asked me for it so how could I say no? I hadn't even tried with fire for two years but it went well.
Update to that fire group here in Tampere. I have joined them and I go to practice every Thursday.
And on Sunday our time I ordered myself some new toys from HOP. I can hardly wait for them to arrive!!

Today at the fire practise I finally got to try out fire snakes and double poi. I fell in love
.. The snakes were SO warm and loud and bright and beautiful and, and, and. After twirling the snakes and double poi, my single (not-beginner) cathedral poi felt light and easy (yet beautiful).Well well, got home and came shopping again. Now, just waiting for the package to arrive.. snakes.. whee
. They are just perfect for twirling in winter at minus degrees Celsius!!Oh, and I've been on three official gigs this fall!
