Hello, hello and welcome to the thread for all Irish fire dancers, spinners, object manipulators, drummers, musicians and anyone else interested in these arts in Ireland.

This thread was started nearly a couple of years ago now... and it's since grown to include more people, gatherings, events, fun and games than we had thought possible.

And it's still growing - so if you're new to the arts, or want to meet up with any of us, please post at the end of this thread to introduce yourself... or send me a PM with your email address and I'll add your name to our mailing list.

There are spinners, dancers and manipulators all over the country, and you'll find lots of them on here... don't be shy, we're nice biggrin

So welcome, and hope to see you soon hug

Clare x

clare, johnny has gone to ground it seems. haven't been able to contact him in a few days. he doesn't always have coverage out where he lives, even texts can take a day or two to deliver sometimes. will get on to him as soon as i can and get the rundown from him.

if however, the 19th of march is a washout, we'll relocate to mine. will not be able to sleep everyone, but most are from dublin anyway so can get buses/taxis home. anyone travelling is always welcome to crash.

you can always send one out now informing peeps of the idea and the date. we can always cross the t's and dot the i's at a later stage......

Righto... well, I'll send a mail round... I'm only coming down for the Saturday anyways... but I'll let everyone know that somethings happening in Cork and suggest they contact Aidan about it.

I'll try to get hold of Johnny myself too.

I'll send the mail tomorrow.

Thanks for that Lisa hug

if you like. would be handy, tents and all. though the bus leaves you quite close.... see what you think....

i'll probably only be coming back up from cork the day before, and i reckon we should get out to meath early enough. don't fancy putting tents up in the dark. but we really should wait for johhny's go-ahead on this one, coz camping is officially forbidden, we can only pull this off coz he knows the caretaker.....

also, with all the ringforts and rath's such, the footing can be a little dodgy, especially in pitch dark. there are lots of steep slopes & deep trenches, ask Gnor smile hug

see here for any of you who've never been.

scroll down to almost the last pic, a long rectangular shaped trench. that's the "banqueting hall" that johnny reckons we'll have no bother camping in. we'll be hidden from everyone's view. we cannot camp atop the hill itself of course, as there will be most likely folks about when we arrive, and early morning strollers the following day....

Ok lisa... I'm not so sure about the camping anyways... I mean it's probably prohibited for a reason and I wouldn't want us to add to the erosion.

But you and Johnny know better on that.

If we're still going to be filming, it would be better at dusk anyways... which would involve arriving at Tara around 3pm on the Saturday, getting some practice in and then doing fire at around 6/7. If we wait til it's dark you won't be able to see where we are, which will be pointless... and maybe we can head back into town afterwards.

You guys are going to be shattered.

wait till you see the place clare. you will not want to leave. the energy there is magical, quite indescribable ubblove

and there's always dawn too smile

i'm camping as long as there's no torrential downpours

and the reason it's prohibited is because it's illegal to pitch any more than 3 tents 'anywhere' in Ireland that's not a designated campsite. people camp out there for the solstice every year, in groups of 3 or less biggrin

Ah fair enough then... I wouldn't want to be destroying any ancient heritage or anything biggrin

(also I don't have a tent... so that could be a problem!)

Dawn would be nice... but that's horrifically early in the morning isn't it?!!

no no no, didn't mean to be rude redface

fair play to ya though, you came up with more than i could. it was just that none of them really grabbed me. plus the fact that although some of us can pronounce the oul' gaeilge, lots can't, and it needs to be simple enough to allow correct pronounciation.....

methinks....

i'll just go back to grinning into space then shall i? biggrin ubblove
