Posted:Hey Mods…

How come when I type something on Microsoft Word and then “cut” and “paste” it to a Home Of Poi thread it gets all these funky number combinations?! I know it has to do with the codes in Word, is there any way I can still type in word and then cut and paste without getting these?
1) Because I can simultaneously spell check it.
2) Because my computer crashes when I try and post sometimes and I want to have it saved so I don’t lose the whole post…

Thanks! kiss

Posted:I think it's the odd ` type characters that do it. Word converts thing like quotes and single quotes into accented quotes because it thinks they look better. When these are copied to a web form Windows thinks it's being clever and so converts them to the HTML code for these characters. However the board is set up to not recognise these codes as it can cause other problems when people use the & symbol.

No, I don't know how to stop this, but should probably look into it. There might be someway to tone down the Auto Correct feature. Or try copy and pasting it via a simpler editor like Notepad.

I was wondering if you could write a application-spanning macro that could do this automatically for you?

Type it in word and do your spell check thing.

Copy to notepad. Copy notepad text to hop. Copying to note pad parses out all the word formating.
