Hi! This is Spicymoose and I'm hopin' this is the right way to introduce myself. I have been at HOP for a while and I have all kinds of questions about poi and techniques but I've been hesitant to post because I'm not sure where to start. I've never used a message board (or whatever this thing is) before so any tips will be appreciated. So assuming that I'm in the right area doing the right thing, and I'm sorry if I'm not, I shall introduce myself.

Name: Spicymoose
Age: 21
Gender: male
Location: Rockford, IL, USA
Occupation: student
Toys: poi

I've only just started learning poi and don't have any fire poi yet. I enjoy spinning but I would also like to become skilled so ya'll should help me out. And one last thing- I tried uploading an avatar (or whatever that icon thingy is that shows when you post) but I couldn't get it to work, sorry.

'ello! wave welcome!

you've come to the right place. the poi moves section is probably the best place to go to get help boosting your skills. but if you want to get to know all of us, please poke around the site, visit our intro threads smile

and as far as uploading an avatar, there's a thread about it in the help section i believe smile

Aight, I'll start checking things out. I found the help on the avatar and it seems that I need to find a file small enough to upload. I won't be able to use what I had in mind but thats alright, I'll find an expressive avatar like everyone else instead of some picture of myself. Thats quite the piercing you have there.

thank you biggrin

you can use the pic you want, you just have to downsize it. it's not that hard actually. the pic of my tongue was way too big but i just downsized it and it still looks ok

alright! more people came to my thread thingy (this is a thread right?). I'll get the hang of these message boards in a couple weeks, including all the lingo. Very happy that you inquire Pink biggrin

Likes: rollerblading, martial arts, all kinds of art, techno(all kinds of music really), festivals, living, learning, and poi! I wanna learn all about fire. I totally dig fire. I wanna learn poi and staff and whip and breathing fire and all the other loads of toys, techniques, and styles that are around and eventually come up with some ideas of my own.

As for the dislikes... I never really thought of things in terms of "dislikes" but I know a dislike when I come across one, of course, but I won't single out any particular dislikes today.

As for the colour pink...well, my favorite is green but I definitely appreciate pink. I had pink hair once. I think pink is a color of confidence smile

Thankyou everyone that posted greeting me in. Now that I am figuring out and getting used to how to use these message boards, I can start learning all the things I've wanted to discover about fire twirling and maybe contribute some ideas of my own. I've started reading some of the other threads but I am thoroughly confused. The poi lessons section dosn't cover things like "airwraps" and "hyperwraps" so I have to figure out what some of these moves are and how they work. Looks like I have a lot of catch up reading to do on the lessons threads. Soon I'll dive in and start posting ideas and questions on the other threads.

Love your intro. Nice to meet someone else here who is a little lost with some of the technology... erm, downsize pounce? (i am such a dumba$$! frown). I actually emailed bender ubblove and he might be helping me with my avatar. Sorta catching on to the 'hyperwrap' type lingo, but i am also frantically reading. I have pretty much given up fiction for awhile and have printed out alot of posts. Found i was doing much of it already but it makes it much easier to communicate with everyone if you know the common terminology. Anyway, nice to meet you Spiceymoose ( ubbtickled), hope to hear you are setting fire to things real soon! eek wink

Warchild! Looper! Kit! Gidg! Gnorc! Lightning! Thankyou all for stopping into my humble thread to welcome me to HOP smile I'm glad ya'll like my name smile Now that I've been stamped by the mad scientist, I am official HOP product. This is good; I check out HOP just about everyday and I'm trying to be really involved. Pretty soon I'll be flingin' fire everywere. I wan't to meet more people around my area that spin fire but there isn't anyone else from Rockford IL on the 'find people' thingy. Pretty soon I'll be headin' off to college though. I know at either of the colleges I'm choosin' there are already people I've found registered with HOP that want to practice/learn/teach someone else so I am looking forward to that.
