G'day guys and girls...
I was just wondering if i could find some people on HOP that live in Australia, cos i'd be really interested in talking to them, possibly even one day meeting these people and seeing the 'scene' , the places they hang out and just find out what the rest of the country's vibe is...I'm from Tasmania (the little island under Australia) and the scene here is still really hardcore and tight, everyone knows everyone (isn't that the way u WANT it though?) and its really cool...but i'd be interested in meeting and going places to hang out with different meets and crews and stuff...and for everyone who doesn't live in Australia & those that do: try and give me an answer to this question:

Ten years ago the skate scene was a lot like the fire scene is now, still fairly innocent, no major labels as such, pretty hardcore, not mainstream etc...how long do you think it will last and do you want it to change?

Me? i think if we choose for it to, it could stay like this for a very long time...(good!) and no i don't think it NEEDS to change...cos i don't wanna do the same everyday shyte..i took up longboarding cos EVERYONE skated newskool and killed what i loved...tell me what u think... ubbidea

I'm in canberra, bit of a trip from tasmania frown Theres a few people who spin weekly, but not all that many atm.
How much longer will fire stay non-mainstream? I dont know, but i hope it doesnt go mainstream smile

im from new zealand which is just a wee way away. but yeah. as much as it so wicked to meet someone else that dose firedancing as well, it would suk if everyone did it, (altho i dont really blame them for wanting too coz it is mighty cool) but i hope if dosnt go mainstream

i hadn't actually thought of that...(the catching on of setting YOURSELF on fire) i mean, there are a lot of yuppies f*cks that will do anything to look cool...and more importantly there are morons out there that think they know what they are doing....oh well, i reckon you should cross the tasman and come and see our fire scene, u never know... a tassie could be invading yours for a gander sooner than later...whatdaya reckon? ubbloco

if not another soul twirled
if everyone did twirl
it has little bearing on my love of fwirlarama.

fiddling with fire by myself makes me more aware of how little it's popularity matters when there's wick being burnt.
if there is people watching, then it is a bonus that a love of fire is shared.

Hey Ben, Im in NZ so its across the ditch, probably to far for a fire session but have you tried using the HOP meet others section

https://www.homeofpoi.com/meetothers.htm

I know what you mean about spinning becoming too mainstream but i find when im twirling the passion that I have for it is the main thing that inspires me to keep twirling.
Anyway, good luck with your search. ubbrollsmile ubbloco beerchug weavesmiley smile

Well, I'm about 16000 miles away, but am Australian, so I'd better say hi.

Hi wave

Will be in the Sydney area in October though. Not much help but it's a bit closer.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.
