I got bored so I decided to change this again.
Name: Elanna (remember, folks, "Ela" is spelled with one 'L' not two).
Age: Himitsu da.
Location: Central Jersey, or Newark, DE.
Hobbies: Spinning, music, chainmail, slackline walking, martial arts/weapons, anime, video games, reading, skating/dancing, sleeping...
Spinning for: A few years, but nothing to show for it.
Favorite toys: Staff, fans, poi, eating torches, slackline, a nice piano, my NES
Books: I love to read, so there are few books I've read that I dislike. I prefer fantasy novels, though.
Movies: Anything by Mel Brooks, The Last Unicorn, The Princess Bride, any of the Monty Python films, Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR, The Princess and the Goblin, the old Disney movies, the list goes on and on...
Favorite color: Blue.
Favorite websites: HoP, of course.

My friend asked me last night how much I charge for piano lessons, so I might be teaching soon. I'm kinda nervous about it, though...I don't know if I'll be a good teacher.
And at the choir hayride/bonfire last night one of the girls asked me where I learned to do fwirlyness 'cause she thought it'd be cool if someone did that at the Relay for Life thing we have in the spring. I won't get paid for doing it, but I guess it'd be a good experience...I've never really done anything outside of burns and nothing in front of large crowds of people. Kinda scary, though...dunno if I should do it or not. :\

True...very true. I guess one of my main concerns is trying to figure out how to mix in music theory with the piano lessons. for some strange reason I didn't have any trouble with thinking like a beginner while teaching the guitar, although I did when I tutored maths. remember quite clearly sitting there with students trying to be patient while thinking "are these people just stupid?". but then maths was ALWAYS kind of instinctual for me.
I was probably lucky with the guitar because I only started when I was 12 and I got my 1st teaching job when I was 15, so I really hadn't been at it all that long.
the theory is a toughie, but more so for the above mentioned arthurs and marthas (you'd be wasting your time trying to teach them theory); the importance of integrating a sound theoretical knowledge into your students lessons, is going to largely depend on their chosen style/genre of music. although I'd try to encourage ALL students to understand what they're doing, rather than just moving their fingers, it's much less important if they just want to join a blues band.
