Well a little while ago I was venting about my workload and the special projects that my manager has given me, weeellll one of those projects just has given me a great opportunity.
The project is to update of a web page for my company intra-net. Normally we create/update documents then send them to the web page administrator and they would update the web page. In our first formal meeting with my manager I volunteered to work with the web page administrator. After talking to the administrator she took me up on my offer and sent the request for training and access for ... ME!!!
I went and told my manager what was happening and he got this twinkle in his eyes, I could see his mind going to work. We started talking about the different projects that were coming down from upper management and how this could really be a benefit to getting them done. I was suppose to keep him updated with the request, because if it was denied he was going to do some requesting himself. By the time I got back to my desk I had received a CC copy of an email from the head web page administrator requesting IS to give me access. I went back and told my manager about the email and, with a grin that would beat all, he reminded me to add this to my RMS (yearly review document) and talk with one of the administrators to find out what kind of classes I could take. After all the company would pay for something like this.
