Aren't they though. I like to thing of threshing as done in the olden days before machines were invented and it was all done by hand.

Yep...when they actually had to walk thru the fields and put some work into it...
I actually remember helping my grandaddy set out tobacco with a hand setter...and I think it's even still down in our old pack house...along with a cider press and a mule yoke...and various other ancient farm implements...

You still have the stuff? I lived across from a farmer when I was a kid, third generation, and he got rid of all the old equipment. "Why have something around that you aren't going to use?" I remember him and his wife saying that alot.

No...I think it's just a thing of not wanting to get rid of pieces of my mom's family...kind of reminds her of her younger days, I guess...and the stuff really is cool, too...

well when I was a boy we wrecked a whole bunch of stuff like that from the shed. I shudder to think what it might be worth these days - there was a "His masters voice" Edison gramaphone player that slowly got pulled apart and the horn filled up with grain ....

Oooops...ye, that might actually have been a bit of bad thing...
I busted up all of my moms china dolls when I was little...just decided one day to dash them all to pieces on the hardwood floor...have no clue why...just seemed like a good idea at the time...

Oh wow. Look at that. HoP is showing the pictures of my patio.

Oh, I have lots of antique stuff, too...I have a pressed copper picture that my mom made during her first year of teaching...and some of my grandmother's jewelry...and a cast iron kettle...just lots of 'stuff'...
I don't know what ever made me break the dolls...and I wish I'd not done it...I'd love to have some of them now...

I'm doing alright.
Started coaching this morning with was fun, although I think there are some coaching philosophy differences between me and the coach of the yr9 1sts! (I'll be coaching the seconds, I think) It's also a worry when my reputation preceded me!
And I have work tonight in the function room. Probably another after-races party. Urgh. They're so trashy.

One of the regulars at work had been telling a mate of his about the girl who was a rower and who recently came out of a relationship...I'm kinda scared that they talk about me outside of work! But at least it was a regular who loves me and not one who hates me! (Not that I think any of them hate me, thank goodness!)
