Posted: I currently have a fire hoop made out of PVC and was told to put electrical tape on it for fireproofing. This sounds a little weird... I'd like to have a nice finish on it instead of PVC font. Does anyone have any suggestions that are safe? Thanks.

If I'm guessing right, you've got a pvc pipe that you want to cover in wick? If that 's the case, then paper masking tape with PVA (craft glue) soaked into afterwards should give you a fairly cheap heat retardent.
Can you let us know exactly what you are going to use it for and how the fire is to be attached?

Posted: We always put small 6" meatal pipes on 4-6 sides of the hoop. You make a poi out of kevlar or towel, wrap it with 16 ga wire, then thread it through the meatal tube and attach it to the hoop. I useually wrap the hoop a few times with the wire (so it doesn't move) then tye it off. (try to get the tye off in the tube. ) You then can wrap the hoop in assorted electric tape. (over the wire on the hoop to) the hoop shoulden't get too hot through the tubbing to melt anything. Good luck and happy twerling!!

Posted: Try aluminum tape. It may run into a little cash though if you're doing a lot.
