Hi y'all, just noticed in the "...and i've been spinning for.." Mechhead, is a fellow Diver. I know that Cole is too, who else out there is a Diver?

Anyone fancy arranging a HOP Scuba trip of some sort?

Havn't done a dive in ages and wouldn't mind one soon, just thought i'd pumb the depths of HOP, at it were and see what the consensus is.

man that would be mental, but do you really think that after 2-3 dives a day, that anyeone wil have the energy to go a spin, not forgetting about mental fituge and stress on your body!

but yeah i am up for a uk spining dive, on land or under water!

may i sujest Oban in the scotish boarded area, great veiws, and good UK water diving, good technical diving experience required!

Oban is a great suggestion have done some great dives round there, as i did all my training at Uni in Edinburgh. There are a couple of spots round Oban area for some wicked drift dives too! Unfortunately i dont have any nitrox qualifications, so that kind of limmits the possiblities for me. I think if we can get a few of us together, it would be a great little trip, and am sure some underwater juggling could be done too!

Lets just see what the replys are like.

I haven't gone diving in about 7 years. But once upon a time I had my PADI advanced open water diver certification. If you go somewhere where I can learn a bit and renew my certification first, I'd try tag along.

land diving?

I dived backwards into a bramble bush last night whilst being bundled.

Does that count?

Done a bit of diving, but only the tropical kind. I don't like cold water at all!

Anyway, I love diving. I'm hoping to go back to Indonesia to do DiveMaster as it's a cheap way of diving for a month - and Sulawesi and Flores are meant to be truly amazing for diving.

regyt - the qualifications don't run out, but most places will suggest a dive in a pool with an Instructor or Dive Master to get you reaquainted. And you'll need dry suit experience in a pool if you ain't got it already.

I'm with Regyt... trained a long time ago, got certified in open water, but haven't gone in ages (like 9 years) so I'd need a remedial course first... but I would kill to strap on a tank again, that is the most awesome experience I think I've ever had.

Knagi (who lurks more than anything now) is also a diver.

i rekon, we should opt for a set of dives at either Oban and the area around that such as the sound of mull or over at scappa flow.........both have GOOD diving, but i think oban would be better for spinning, i aint dived for about 2 yrs, so i rekon a group pool sesh would also be good to get used not only to our gear, ut used to other and their skill levels and gear!

is this going to be a UK only affair or a world affair, were ppl r gona come over and dive with us, or do one in conjunction across the world?

I MUST STRESS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO TEST YOUR GEAR. AND WE CANT JUST TURN UP AND DIVE WE NEED ACIMUNAL SESSION TO MAKE SURE WE ARE ALL OK. AND WE NEED SOME HIGHLY TRAINED (BSAC, sorry nothing against PADI divers, not the qualification are better tought and instilled through BSAC tarining, ask most Padi to Bsac converts!) OFFICERS WHO WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE SURE WE ARECOVERED, what about insurace, and cost?

diving is wonderful, amazing when done calmly , intelligently and safely (got some weird memories with Shibaki and Dom in thailand with a mental dive master)

i enjoy snorkeling a lot as well just because you need less monitoring of the geara nd time and air and sometimes it is great to just wander for ever

water is amazing...

ok teh 2nd thing i would say is that we need a pool session as well, mainly just to get used to each others kits, and signals, style and so on

plus, (and i know im going to sound harsh and sad at this) but teh padi divers, i would like to try out esp, cos the diff teaching metheods are a lil weird, im a BSAC divers, and a PADI diver, and i know which i preffer being, and who i think teacher better!

ok but not to osund harsh or anything, im sorrry! i know diving is diving, and its underweater its just a safty thing!

right so on that note, i rekonmend, either, OBAN, and teh sound of mull, nice wrecks, altyhough a lil cold!

scappa flow? - very cool place!

cornwall - nice doves down south

hire a boa wavet for a week?

Mull!! HOW COOL!! My ancestry has a castle there. Yes yes...my american lineage originated in Scotland with the Clan MacLean. It's on my list of things to do to get over to the Isle of Mull to see Duart Castle...then hop the ferry to Oban for some Scotch. biggrin

Mind you...the water'd be freezing. Dry suits? I've not done Dry suit diving.
