lol.. just had to pop in here to say this. I don't know why, but I keep saying yarn when I mean to say twine- which I've been using to make poppers.

In other news. Discovery of the moment!! Getting really frustrated with how easily twine just disappears cracking the whip, I've been looking about the house for something to make a better popper. Don't have nylon thread, or horse hair.. but I saw my spool of pure Kevlar thread sitting around.. took about 1.5-2 metres of it, folded it into quarters, and went about making a standard popper. OMG. It's loud, and ridiculously easy to crack, and I haven't even gone outdoors yet. I'm guessing it'll last a while too. Will wait til I'm outdoors to give a proper test. Yay to not having to muck around with yarn.. or twine anymore ubblol..

making proper poppers?

I use a length of hootchie cord, which is green nylon braided stuff.

In other news, once i learn how to braid so it looks nice (will post pics of my last attempt - icky), ima make me a fire whip. or two. or more, and sell some on ebay.

I think i know what my parents meant about being at school. harumph... i'm drowning in bills, got an overmassive shift tomorrow (16 hours), and haven't been able to get my living away from home allowance off the government yet, which is really starting to censored me.

The saga, as it stands now:

Got all the application forms. Took a little while to sort out which option (satanlink or lafha) would be best, and it turned out to be the lafha. So i filled everything out, sent off the relevant bits and pieces to be signed, and got it all sent away.

Now, before i go much further, the living situation is this:

I lived in whyalla last year, at the uni village, doing a tafe course.

I moved back in with mum in port augusta for a couple of days, while sorting out a new place.

Sorted out new place, moved in.

Mum moved to peterborough.

I started the apprenticeship i'm doing now.

Sent stuff off.

Ok, back to the story.

After sending all the forms back, it took a few weeks for them to sort all the crap out. after about a month and a half or so, with me ringing a couple of times a week, they sent back a letter saying it'd been denied, because when i started the apprenticeship, the parental home was less than 90 minutes travel away. I wrote a fairly strong worded letter back saying that they were rather incorrect in that regard, as at 9th jan, mum was living in peterborough, which is 2 hours away. I'll put the letter up on my site later.

Friday just gone, nearly a month after the letter got sent, i got a call, saying that they'd have to forward it on to the people above them, because they weren't authorised to make that sort of call.

I've got a car to register and run, phone and internet bills to pay, and food to buy. How can i earn money if i can't afford to get my car to and from work? There's no public transport in whyalla at 7:30 am, and there's no point in catching a taxi, it's cheaper to run my car.

People wonder why there's no skilled labour in Australia. It's because of this censored, nobody can afford to be an apprentice nowadays.

Cost of living's going up, and governmental support is going down. Oh, sure, the businesses that put apprentices on get heaps, especially if they employ under a certain arbitary number of people, but what about the kids that are trying to live on it?

There isn't much stopping from syaing 'shove it', and stacking shelves for twice the amount of money i get now.

And the thing i'm really getting sick of is the older guys, that keep telling me that they were on less than half what i am when they were doing their time. One guy, who's nearing 40, was on $2.70 (i'm on $7.00). SUre, ok, $2.70's not much. But, a loaf of bread back then wasn't 5 bucks. Fuel wasn't a $1.50 a litre and climbing. Rent wasnt.. Oh, you were living at home, were you?

[censored] off.
