Posted: Hi all My son who is 8 years old and 49 inches tall has been practising staff moves with an old broom handle of mine. I would like to get him a proper staff but have no idea how to buy one right for him. I would really appriciate your help since I have no idea about staffs

That said, if you get the broomstick down to about shoulder height, and concentrate the weight on the ends, it seems to work for most people. Not sure about 8 year olds, but it holds for most people it seems. And no need to buy anything yet (I think most people make their own staves anyway).
If you really had to buy something, look at getting a one of a set of doubles, since those are usually shorter.
