Hello boys and girls!!

I was sitting on Tahunanui beach in Nelson in summer and seen these wicked lights spinning about, it drew me over instantly and I got chatting to the spinner who directed me to home of poi, within 2 days I had my own LED poi's!!

I've been teaching myself from the net, DVD's and books and after countless bruises and lots of fun I need more so starting the Wellington circus school tomorrow!!

I can't wait to get onto fire poi and to really get good at the moves I can do and also learn the new ones!! I'm sure there will be lots of blood, bruises, broken glasses and tantrums before then!

Hopefully I will get in touch with lots of you from Wellington so we can meet up for practice!!

Have a lovely day everyone!!

You get ticks for:

Movie(s): Cheech n Chong, since it's hard to pick a single favourite Cheech n Chong movie.

Favourite ice cream flavour: Boysenberry Bless the folks at Knottsberry Farm *Drool* Also, you should try Boysenberry Cobbler Ice Cream.

Finally, you chose Marmite(a caustic chemical). This means you now have to patrol the HoP grounds for squirrels with Captain Marmite. He should be along shortly in the Marmite mobile to recruit you.

Welcome to HoP and enjoy your stay!

Greetings Lynners, and welcome to HoP!

You've now inspired me to look up 'tartan' as I'd never heard of it before. Perhaps we should add 'favorite pattern' to the introduction list?

As delicious as curly fries sound, the mention of Marmite has made me feel ill. . .

thanks for the welcome!!

First class went well, just a pity I have to go to work now as I just want to stay home and learn the moves.

I shouldn't have ran before walking as I'm back to basics and need to perfect the split reels first and make it look smooth and lovely!!

Hopefully it will be nice on Tuesday so I can head to Frank Kitts for a bit of a practice with everyone!!

Any particular site to go to so I can study the hip to shoulder split reels, something that slows it down a bit?

Bring on the bruises!!

Icarus Forde, where do you hail? Kapiti Coast?

Hopefully this isn't against board rules, if it is I'm sorry and where do you find the rules anyway?

If your looking for an extensive library of moves check.out www.feuershow.de Sam has a ton of tutorials on everything and they can all be slow-moed. Nick, Alien Jon, G, and other greats from around Europe have put up videos on there.

Welcome to the forums!

Indeed I do!

It's a good little place. Not to big, not too small, though I may be moving to Wellington for Uni next year. smile

I definitely suggest you check out Nick Woosley's Beginner Series if you haven't yet. They've been a big help to me. Of course, HoP has quite a few tutorials as well, but I've always been fond of Nick's videos. I don't know if they slow the hip reels down at all, but it's a good resource nonetheless.
