So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Kels: Actually, I'd kill to be able to play it too ubblol Right now I just spend some time practicing in a park not too far round the corner. The only audience I'm aware of are a few ducks in the pond, and possibly some people on the opposite golf course and the odd jogger. Song lyrics! Always felt they're the hardest bit.. so what happens to all the lyrics you write?

Mm.. administration.. had a small scare just now regarding my permanent residency application.. but turned out alright thankfully. *phew*. Baby steps.. and hug hug hug hug hug thank you ubbangel

Elke: Well, only really have to mind my little camera now.. my big camera's on a holiday to Sydney.. found a BUG inside it! Yep.. with legs.. it was tiny, like probably the size of a ballpoint nib.. but yeah sent it in to be looked at. Yep.. all's good and smiley generally, bit anxious in some areas but you know.. now with uni over and everything- I've got to stress about something don't I shrug wink But things are okie. How are things in pixie land miss? hug hug hug hug smile

a few yummy words for you:
vex
incandescent
beguile
candor
adroit
quixotic

Hope you like them!
Recently, for a project I m doing, I have become interested in words that split, and have content that way, like:
nowhere- now, here
alone- all one

etc etc...
Know any good ones? Suggestions?

Been enjoying your pics! Beautiful, you are so talented
smiles to you and a big huge hug,

incandescent.... now there's a word I like....

actually I just read a little footnote by Robert Rankin that 'plinth' is the sexiest word you can get a woman to say.

His words were something along the lines of 'get a woman to pronounce the word 'plinth' reaky slowly, and watch her mouth as she does so...'

Because ActiveAngel sounds like a feminine deodorant

Great word.. ugly on walls, pretty on poi smile

Alo Ry!

Edit: Bwahhah.. I couldn't help it.. I love words:

Quixotically, Ry was slightly vexed by the beguiling appeal of the susurrus emanating from the incandescent chartruese leaves. In all candor, he was quite adroit in his ability to yank the sickly sapling from it's tentative grasp on the skeletal plinth.

Andrea: Heya! hug Been a long time miss- missed ya ubbangel Yup.. remember you mentioning that project.. Not too many off the top of my head, but how about 'scarlet'- scar let? Thanks for the words btw! Much appreciated. biggrin Glad you've been enjoying the pics too.. There are a couple up there it seems ubblol So mind if I ask- what exactly is this interesting word project you're up to? Or is it a secret?

Lou: Enjoy the words too? Coming from someone who supplies me daily with an endless array of wonderful words? hug biggrin I don't think I'd overtake you on the sax anytime soon. Hey! Guess what- after I went back to sleep, I dreamt I heard you busking with your sax! I always wondered whether I had sound in my dreams, and I guess that's solved. I guess Psychic Lou must be trying to give me lessons in my dreams maybe? For the record, you were really really good, and I was somewhere between inspired and paralysed in awe ubblol

Guy: I think I've actually heard that plinth quip before! Can't remember where or when though. Actually, thinking about it-watching a girl's mouth up close as she says just about anything slowly is rather sexy- wouldn't you agree? ubbangel

Kels: Wondering when I might get to see some of your pennings ubbrollsmile hug Regarding residency.. it's not all sorted out yet.. Still have quite a few documents to put together, and it's slightly more than tedious.. It's going ok as far as I can tell, but the hoops that the immigration department wants me to jump through.. it's daunting to say the least frown

Petey: Why hello there back at ya sir! 21 days!! Can't wait for this year to be over really. For some strange reason I'm not looking forward to xmas.. it feels like it's over and it's not even here yet! January's going to be a bit exciting I think.. looking forward to catching up with a couple of interstaters I haven't seen in a while- and the January moonfest, I think, will be a big one. I'm discounting the December one (I don't think it counts as the first moonfest of summer if it rained out).. Confirmed tickets yet? bounce

Sam: mmm.. Already in my list though. So is sussurant wink Hope you're feeling a bit better today.. Tummy bugs are never much fun. They don't even dance for you wink

Sui: I think 'tentative' is a wonderful word.. It's been on my favourite word list for quite a while.

Main Entry: ten·ta·tive
Pronunciation: 'ten-t&-tiv
Function: adjective
Etymology: Medieval Latin tentativus, from Latin tentatus, past participle of tentare, temptare to feel, try
1 : not fully worked out or developed
2 : HESITANT, UNCERTAIN

A word and a definition for everyone to appreciate today, courtesy of Merriam-Webster. OED doesn't seem to have a free dictionary shrug But.. hmm.. 'yank' I'd probably have left out of that sentence. Chartreuse.. I used to like it- vaguely remember writing something once where I used the phrase 'chartreuse steatite'.. These days I'm not too fond of the word anymore though.. feels a bit heavy and maybe over ornate? If that makes any sense.. meditate

--

So some general stuff. Today's been good so far.. woke up rather early, went to bed and rewoke up again about midday. Went snorkelling/swimming/fishing a couple of days ago off Tangalooma (Moreton Island) and came back slightly more than sunkissed (another nice word wink) Am feeling it mid to lower back, bit on the chest, between my knees and halfway to my hips, a bit on cheeks and lips too.. oww.

Here's a pic from the trip:

Non-Https Image Link

biggrin

The week's been wonderful, and between the rained out December moonfest and Monday juggle, caught up with the talented mr bluecat :awe: (thanks miss fluffster! The hug was delivered!) and got to spectate some amazing spinning.. together with Jay and Stef (the french duo), I think it's just another reminder that there's so much to be learnt.. smile

Other than that- major concerns include the permanent residency visa application.. need to put together some documents I myself haven't seen in ages. Quite worried, but I know things always work out eventually. I'm about halfway through the application, and that's halfway more than where I was 2 weeks ago..

My camera's just come back from Sydney- sent it in after I found the popup flash wasn't working properly (not that it realllly matters.. I hardly use it anyway), but more importantly, I found a bug in the viewfinder. Yes sirree a genuine bug.. like the sort in A Bug's Life. ubblol Was a bit shocking to see the tiny fella with legs in the viewfinder, then to discover it was *above* the focusing screen.. as in, *inside* the camera and non-extricable without a screwdriver. Bit of a good thing the camera took a bit of a holiday though. Gave me a chance to work my baby camera and have discovered a few interesting things it can do.. like take really decent pictures ubblol And movies too ubblove

Have been playing around a bit with a new beautiful acquisition too, a Temby professional alto saxophone.. lessons with Psychic Lou are going well, and my embouchure's improving and so is my tone.. fingering's still a bit hesitant, but I'm making some kind of progress.. Aren't holidays great. Not quite sure the ducks down by the pond near the golf course are sick of me yet. Maybe it's my imagination, but

"Quack quack quack gee Wilfred quack quack what the quack was that quack.. It sounds like that dog was attacking Charlie all over again!"

"Quack quack I just about thought so too Marfa quack quack.. But Charlie's over there quack quack.. think it's that kid with that saxomaphone again quack.. well at least it'll keep the dogs away quack quack"

ubblol ubbangel

One would never guess something which looks soo beautiful (I've yet to put a pic up) could sound so scary wink Need a bit more practice I guess.. Song of the day is 'Take Five' (Brubeck/Desmond) as performed by Charlie Parker. Have been trying to figure out the Chet Atkins guitar version, and am getting closer, but maybe just about halfway.

Alrighty. Today's a ride to the pond to visit the sax fearing ducks, a trip to the post office possibly, depending on what's in the mailbox, and before all that- SunSense aftersun creme gel- antioxidant moisturiser with grapeseed polyphenols, vitamin c & vitamin e ubblove Hope everyone's good and enjoying the holidays! grouphug hug

Hi again Ry...

Word project, well now this is PG site not sure how much I can say ;-) Seriously, I am writing a book of erotic crossword puzzles, with acompanying photos. One for each month, and each on a different theme. The brain is the largest sexual organ, doncha know! It is a pretty fun and hilarious book, very tongue in cheek and challenging on many levels!

At any rate, the proposal is ready for the publisher, just waiting for the go ahead etc. Been distracted by life and other projects recently, so this one slid a little to the backburner. Must crack the whip ;-)

The split words are for another project, which will be revealed this spring I hope! I am in love with the idea! But it is top secret, and if I told ya I'd have to kill ya...I need lots, words that have a relationship to each other, and ones that fit together...

Love hearing what you are up to, and the beautiful images. Wish I could hear the sax. I got stalked by crazed ducks for a while though, so maybe not. Could be traumatic! I eventually had to put mirrors out around the yard so the ducks thought they had pals, and would leave me alone. Seriously!

Life got out of hand on this end for a bit, but settling now. I had a friend come stay for three months and put all the peices of me and my life basically back in place, just in time for a New Year! Yay!

Happy Solstice! Here, our days get longer fromthis point on, Persephone returns from the Underworld, I am so excited. Guess it is backwards for you?

Going to Thailand in Feb, wanna come ?
*Hmmn. Guess I shoulda PMed all this, too late now!*
cheers,
love and happiness your way, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, Blessed Solstice and all that good stuff!
hugs

Pete: SEVEN tickets?? Guess that's the way to do it these days ubbrollsmile Are you sure 512mb's going to be enough? wink The ducks are pretty cool, though they keep to themselves a bit.. unless you speak duck ubblol The pond's a bit of a thriving community actually.. if you camped there long enough, you're bound to see more than a few interesting creatures. Silly thing though- whenever I'm there, I always practise til just after dark, which is exactly when the mozzies come out. I keep telling myself to leave *before* but somehow it never ends up happening. I've recently taken to bringing Aerogard (courtesy of Adrian, The Magnesium Master), but always miss a spot or too.. and the mozzies know the location of that spot everytime eek Shocking. PS. Ed in Brisvegas come January- sir, it's up to you wink biggrin

Guy: Well.. I could argue with you on the appeal of that word to some people, but you know.. PG forum and all ubblol Do keep us informed when you do find out though wink

Chris: Well, Oz is a big place.. here's where I insert my ubiquitous plug for Brissie (Guy, we've stopped talking about bums, mind you ubblol)- I'd say the vibe is pretty good alright.. good people and an unusually abundant supply of random pixie sparkles.. *ponder* Between Woodford, Uberoz, Moonfest and Jugglejam, there's never a shortage of events too.. heard Earthcore was pretty wicked too (but alas.. missed it for unavoidable reasons. frown) Think Rob's going to have a decent report to bring back (don't ask him about moonfest though.. was a bit.. wet. ubblol) And I couldn't get any pics of him cos my camera was away being serviced.. :sigh: Oh well.. Guess he'll have to drop by again.. Maybe post Woodford biggrin So when are you coming down hmm? I'd suggest January.. might even get to bother Lexie if she and Claire manage to wander round this way come their roadtrip..

Andrea: Erotic crossword puzzles you say devil I think it'd I know at least one of my friends (well two if they're a couple?) who'd be interested in getting one when it gets to print! So you've already got your first presale I say wink The split words project sounds so deliciously cryptic.. You've prolly already got this one, but 'together', to get her? Btw, no. You seriously don't wish you could hear the sax I promise. But maybe give me a year? smile And keep reminding me to practise won't ya? Glad you like the pics too.. and talking about pics, I *really* like your most recent round of uploads! Some very nice pieces there.. Wish I had a chance to collaborate with you on anything similar.. Were they shot for any specific project? Thailand in Feb.. *want* to, but on the other hand, might have some good work lined up.. so hoping that goes through. Sounds exciting though.. Have you talked to Bonnie (myco)? She's headed up that way too.. Will probably meet your friend Nick come UberOz.. tell him it'll be good! wink Take care and happy holidays! hug
