Have you checked your local scrap stores? Ask the local secondary schools where they get their stuff - although its the holidays so that might be tricky. Ask the art departmeant at the uni. With these things best to try your luck with as many places as possible.

I had a similar result when I was wanting to make some electro staves a couple of years back. Only places I could find were distributing/manufacturing bulk, and whatsmore the diameter I wanted was apparently not a standard measurement, so they were going to need to make a specific mould for me. Was way too costly, even if I decided to make more staves from the excess and sell them.

Good luck!

my search came to fruition when instead of polycarbonate, i looked up 'acrylic' in the tome of pages of yellow. I landed me a local importer of german clear arcylics. especially tubing of various lengths. Now i can make that plastic lover i've always wanted.
now hang on, did i just say that or think it?

Wasn't their a big fuss recently over carcinigens in poly carbonate clear plastic? This might make your search even harder if im not mistaken.

Acrylic is pretty strong, ive experienced it's insane durability with contact juggling balls, Although a staff being hollow would have less integrity, but apparently that's not much concern according to the last post.

I know acrlyic is a lot easier to fix and polish scratches and nicks out of it to.

In short, I know a good UK company for polycarbonate that will sell by the length (PMs welcome if curious as I'd rather not provide free advertising to anyone if I can avoid it :P).

Also, whatever gets called 'acrylic tube' in the UK is VERY brittle, polycarbonate's definitely the best stuff for the job smile

I haven't heard of a carcinogen scare involving polycarbonate though I'd recommend respiratory protection measures when sawing etc. I guess this is a bit of a no-brainer as it's always better to err on the side of caution in this area smile

it was coloured polycarbonate water bottles containing bisphenol, some type of crazy chemical that mimics estrogen and cause various health problems with a lot of exposure, includeing breast cancer. But I think your ok if your not drinking anything from your staff.... which would be an odd thing to do.
