bummer about that, maybe you could go to a store where they know you and politely suggest that they carry it, i dont know, i did that at a movie theater for a movie i wanted to see and it worked, dont know if it applies to toothpaste too..

*bump*

So... had dreads for 8 weeks now. And I dyed them! So, this is exactly the right thread to be rejuvinating, IMO!

Sooo.... it only took me one box, but it took a bit longer to do!!! I applied the dye to the roots, rubbed it in, and then put some on the dread, and rubbed it in all the way down to the tips! They're a lovely dark purple/red now....

So, this isbefore

...

And this is after!!!!

I like it! The ugly colour of my natural hair lookd horrid *shudders* But it's all better now!!!

biggrin ubblove

i like your new color!

i won't be getting my dreads for now, unfortunately. i have started a new job working with a psychologist who does child custody cases. so appearance is a big issue. we have to remain looking "professional" (i.e. conservative). i can't even wear sleeveless blouses. *sigh* i guess i'll have to wait a year or two.

how would i go about dying them as i have dark hair?

would i need to bleach my hair? (i hate the smell of peroxide as i worked on a chemical factory for 5 years and they had it there)

Bleaching, probably... It is possible to bleach dreads, it's definately been done before... But I've never bleached my hair at all before, just dyed it, so I don't know much at all.

Huzzah for three weeks and counting! I've really been cherishing my dreads for the past little while now... complete rollercoaster ride from seriously considering to get rid of them a couple months ago... *happy love sigh* I love them so! ubblove I should really get some new pics up though tongue

Good luck in 3 weeks!!!

You'd need to treat your hair exactly the same as you would if it were normal when it comes to dying, just in larger quantity.

Ie; if you want light pink dreads, but you have dark hair, then yes, You are going to need to bleach them first. This one is just common sense really (sorry)

Just ensure you have enough dye/product, as dreadies are a bit like sponges and soak up alot of liquid. Lots of dready folk like to dye their hair with henna, because it is a pastey substance and sits on the outside of the dread. Again, it does take more henna to do a whole head of dreads tho!

Mmm dreads ubblove Mine are coming up on two years in a few months time...
