Just a quickie to say thanks to everyone involved for a FAB jolly today (and yumpitous crepes, sarnies and brownies!!). Any chance it can be a regular (monthly?) throughout the summer?

Met some lovely people, learnt some new moves and realised just how many really good spinners there are out there.

Hope the HoP photo came out OK and that you get it posted sooooon - is there any way of labelling it so we can start putting names to faces?

Big thankyou again!

I had a great time too, it was brilliant to be able to see who people really are and get in some practise and learning among like minded people.

Unfortunately, I also had a massive attack of zero self confidence and ended up not speaking to as many people as I wanted.

Oh well, if it becomes a monthly thing during the summer (which I think is a great idea), I'll have to make more of an effort next time. I might even be able to use my left arm next time too

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!

Man that was good fun.
Great to see everyone and finally put faces to names.

My legs are black and blue from my new beamers but dang it was worth it!

On top of this the weather was pretty darn good.
Ok, a few name checks:

Cass - Great to meet you, you're a truly graceful spinner and stupendously friendly!

C@antus & Ros - Sorry I didn't get to talk to you as much as I would've liked but it was still great to meet you. And by the way, if any of you start trying to pull that "I'm not particularly good at this" crap again, you're gonna be shot down for the liars you are You're both wicked.

Glass - Thanks again, you're a top, top guy! You've gotta love the ball circle

Kato - You're an awesome spinner and it was great talking to you, hope we can meet again.

PK - Same to you, a great spinner and I regret not getting to talk to you.

And all the rest of you I spoke to, not a single bad thing to say about you (apart from a few jealous comments
It was truly a great and humbling event to attend, can't wait to the next one.

I'm off to buy some witchhazel for my pummeled shins.

Another big thank you to everyone that organised it all! I had a great time, despite not talking to many people. Some wicked twirlers there - it made me realise just how far my spinning has to go!! It was just a bit frustrating that I had to leave so early, before the fire really got going. It must have been amazing. Highlights of the day, for me -

Seeing Kato spin. Damn, that guy is good!!
Orange setting fire (briefly) to a bucket of parafin about a meter away from where I was sitting.
Picking up a few new ideas just from watching all the different styles.
Having such a chilled day in the middle of exam revision stress.
Putting faces to names.

I would love to see it become a monthly event!! If there is another one, I'm definitely staying for the entire thing.
See you all again sometime (I hope)

Logged on to home of poi coz I enjoyed poi in the park.
Some of you I know, my name is Matt or poiboy and I do most disciplines. I went hyperactive and spent the afternoon doing handstands, climbing trees, playing with a skateboard, hurting myself and saying dude a lot. I get very hyperactive.
I know the just jugglers crew and a couple of other folk.
Good stuff

Such an amazing day, so many new faces, styles and moves to try and get my head around.

Was especially goos to meet the people who I've heard so much about and/or have been chatting to recently :

PK, Kato, Laura - fantastic to finally meet you lovely people - you all spin so annoyingly fluidly and full of grace.....you guys left me speechless
Glass - great to meet you. LOVED the contact staff stuff so much, it gives me something to work towards (sad i didn't get to see your contact juggling though)
Cass - As beautiful outside and in as I was expecting. Thank you so much for the present, the crepes and the hug, and your spinning was fantastic - staff stuff too
Durbs - amazing contact juggling stuff and the beaming poi looked great - so glad to have finally met you. Sorry we didn't get to chat that much though.
Lolli - you made it! you're a star - great to see you even if it was brief

I could go on for ever - I was so impressed with all the spinning and the friendliness and everything. Shuch an amazing day. Thank you all so much for making it so memorable

It was great to meet you. In fact it was fantastic meeting everyone, I don't wanna do a namecheck though cos I'm not very good at names. You're all lovely real live people and not internet freaks that only exist in cyberspace (not that I thought that anyway)

The whole weekend was a real eye opener, so many different styles of spinning, it's given me loads of inspiration, cheers.

And finally thanks to the magical poi household for putting up with PK's smelly feet all weekend.

In the group photo (durbs is on the case) there are 80-something HOPper. It aint all of them. Plus there was more than that not in the photo than in it.
The super accurate Pk-ometer told me there were 200 poiple there.

Just enough space to write:
Crepes, cake, opening cola bottles before eating them, smiles, strawberries, salmon sandwiches, snow leopards, seven beat weaves ow, trees, Jupiter trousers, Smiles, poi session in cyberdog, late night davy swing. “Can I have your autograph?” Gecko, dog in a box and fully functioning teleport-o-matic machine.

Thanks to everyone else who I now kinda know even if I don’t know all your names, and thanks to everyone who isn’t on HOP.
Thanks.

We are definitely doing this again,

Hmm poi in the park. Interesting idea this poi thing. Can't really see it catching on though.....

Highlights of the day for me include (in no particular order):Seeing the looks on people's faces as the bright and bouncy phenomenon that is Mr Orange came into view for the first time. And the point shortly after when they said "He's very orange....Oh, he's Orange!!"Seeing, meeting, hugging greeting (and in one case pelting with cashew nuts) various members of my family - including a sneak attack from Lolli.Carrey telling me that I'm not as horrible as she thought i was going to bewatching Mr Orange trying to explode himself dropping a hot and burning thing into a big pot of fuel - been mentioned before in this thread but it's such a classic momentMr Sun deciding to put his hat on and come out and play with us at 3.10discovering that Durbs is much nicer in real lifeI'm going to have to stop this list as I realise it's just going to go on and on as every single moment yesterday was one to cherish.

Hello Everybody

Also want to say thanks for a great night. Me and my friends were the last to leave at about 1:30, while we were cleaning up the bits and pieces left around (which wasn't much well done everyone), we found someone's French 'Examination Grammar in Action' text book, with work inside. It was left along with some Cyberdog flyers. I've picked this up and if the owner gets in touch I'm more than happy to post it back to them.

Anyway, thanks again everyone for a lot of fun, hopefully see you all at the next one.

Oops, I posted this in the wrong place before...let me try again...

Hello everyone!

Yes, Saturday was amazingly cool...

Thought you all might like to know that Simon won the competition by guessing there were 384 toys at London's first PiP. The actual number was 388 - which is pretty impressive for roughly 130 people!!

Ewan (SpaceMonkey) and I have decided that the best things to buy for the PiP community from the proceeds are:
Fire Hydrant (more portable than the monster I nicked from work for Saturday)
A gas light (possibly with stove for tea/coffee, sausages etc.)
Stereo (though we're not sure there'll be enough for this one just yet.)
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Thank you to so many people who came from near and far to join us, even when the weather looked a bit dodgy - it was a great day and feels really good to have been a part of it.

See you all and more of you at the next one!!

Cantus: You were lovelier than I expected - I never thought you would be *horrible* though!
Poi'd and Insane: Thank you so much
Poi camps are a wonderful idea and I would be happy to help organise with you and Drew (glass) if you need help.

PK, Moohaha, Cantus, Kato, Cassandra, BovrilMonkey, etc. great to meet you...I really hope to see you again soon. Orange - always wonderful to catch up - see you soon too!

Favourite moment - Kato cleverly set his jumper on fire for just a couple seconds. It was a lovely blue flame that danced as he did and everyone shouted, "Hey! Wow! Can you do that again!"

Sparkey Poi...wow! Amazing stuff...go the Human Catherine wheel!!

Did anyone stick around late enough to do some skipping? The rope was as you would expect it to be - on fire! To brave for me...

Cheers!

Wicked event guys, loved every minute of it. I will definitly be at the next event.

I got loads of inspiration off of all of you and even managed to learn a few new moves whilst there. Including the btb weave which before has proved to be so illusive. Anyways just writing to add on to the thanks that other people have written and to show my appreciation for an absolutely awesome day.

Thanks

Another thank you to Carrey? (were you running around organising the toys competition?) for pulling off the "btb 360 keeping the poi on one side of your body" trick (gotta be a better name for it than that), as done by Sage on CoL2. It's been bugging me for a while, but after seeing you do it on saturday, I finally managed to crack it myself. Yay!

Hey Jephyre,

Yes, the "Toy Count" (388!) comp was me...managed to raise quite a bit to our cause, so I'm very happy about that. I didn't really get to chat to too many people though, which was a bit of a pity...too busy running around counting toys and inspiring people to enter in the "spirit of Poiness!"

I think it's called a BTB waistwrap with 360 turn (or something), but I'm not too sure. I wanted to do it since I saw Sage doing it on COL2. Orange and glass really helped me to get it and glss is the king of waistwraps, so best to ask him for the names if you want. Congratulations on getting it right though!! It's sooooo addictive once you do (even though I can only do it in one direction!) and can really kill your back, so watch out! Very glad I could help out.

Cheers!
