Hi,

I've been having some issues with my aluminium staff getting too hot to touch. Are there any known remedies to this besides giving it a 15 minute rest?

Thanks

There are a few prop makers - Gora, and Lanternsmith that I know of - who have been putting soft silicone tubing over the exposed metal. Silicone doesn't melt, and insulates the staff bits from the flame enough that you shouldn't get burnt.

Also heard of peeps getting self-adhering silicone tape and wrapping it around the bits of the staff that need to be covered. The only brand I remember is the one called rescue tape though. A layer between 1 to 3mm should be enough I think, although if it still burns you could just keep adding more tape I guess.
