Hi!!

Some of you may remember me.... I'm flash fire and have been on long-service leave for the past 6 months or so. A long time member, moderator and once noisy contributor.

For those of you who know me, I have been undergoing a transformation of sorts over the last several months. I am growing into the person I want to be, rather than the character that situations oblige me to adopt. I have opened up spiritually and am making babysteps on my path of fulfillment.

The joy really is in the journey.

I have been seeing a naturopath for the last 4 months and have never felt better. I am vegetarian, wheat-free and dairy-free. I have cut my hip-length hair to my shoulders and shed 8kgs. I exercise daily and enjoy cooking gourmet vego food.

I made the decision to chase my dreams, rather than indulge in discontent. I am working on forgiving myself for past transgressions and living on the positive side of our spectrum. I haven't poisoned my system with synthetic joy for a long time.

I haven't picked up my fire sticks in about 6 months, but transitional periods do that to me. I have been firedancing since 1997, so the occasional 6month long break is okay I think.

anyway, enough pondering from me! Would love to hear from my HOP friends, both old and new.

kiss

YAY! I'm so very happy today. biggrin

Today is my last day working at the backpackers. I've been working here for over a year and it has slowly but surely eroded much of my vital essence. Dealing with over 300 travellers every day is surprisingly draining... but NO MORE! huzzah!

Today I'm giving away cheap rooms and making everyone's life here very pleasant. I don't think I've ever been in a better mood at work before. I'm playing some great tunes on the stereo and having a dance behind the front desk.

No more waking up at 4.45am. No more 6am starts. No more disgruntled backpackers. No more stupid questions. So very happy. I feel quite liberated!

My next venture has me writing reviews for an annual guide to the social scene in sydney as well as selling advertising space in said guide. Lucrative and interesting, plus it allows me the flexibility to work from home a couple of days a week if I want. Which is great, cos the routine of waking up at the same time every day, getting dressed for work and catching the same bus at the same time with the same people every morning really gets to me sometimes.

The backpackers sucked so much of my energy that I had nothing left for exploration of the creative arts. I now intend to focus more on my fire performing, reform a troupe in Sydney and start learning some aerial stuff. I also hope to have a short story published by the end of the year. I want to learn Spanish, start rock climbing and be more productive with my spare time; painting, writing, sewing clothes etc.

I feel that I am closing the gap between my creative compulsion and my material desire. It has always been a struggle for me to balance these things; be a starving yet fulfilled individual or a money earning high flyer. Maybe I can have a little bit of both this year.

wish me luck!

wow. A thread from a while ago! Thanks Mark P for bumping it!

Valura, my sweet - today is the first day I have seen your post with that beautiful pic of the lightworker. Much love.

Um, I don't know how I feel about being called a lightworker - it's not a term anyone has ever used in reference to me before....

Anyway, in terms of my grande plans as outlined in my most recent post in this thread, I have learned that things take a little longer than I would like. I guess, ultimately, I have learned to be more patient with myself. Which is a good thing.

Patience is a lesson I'm learning as well...it seems to be a life long lesson, too, but that's ok.
