OK. So here's the plan. I'm coming to Australia. I'll be coming on my own time with about 5 weeks to spare. I'm going to Christchurch for 3-4 days to visit some dude I know... biggrin

It will probably be around september-ish that I'll be going. I need to balance this against a planned trip to South America for some Spanish immersion that I desperately need.

Otherwise, I want to spend about one week in each place. That means four cities, five tops. I'll want to go exploring while I'm there. I can make side-forays, but nothing too extravagant. That means if you want to meet me, you might have to travel a bit. I understand what a pain that is; I live in a large country, too.

What four cities should I pick? Why? Where do you live?

There is one very important person, other than Malcolm, who I want to meet. I want to meet Taj. He's a true symbol of the spirit of this community and he's adorable. ubblove (Valura, honey, we need some photos, pleeze.)

So...where am I going? ubbrollsmile

Depending on your time Doc you're welcome to come and visit my neck of the woods. It's a country-ish town of about 35,000. We could organise a lil HoPper convoy from Melbourne to mine (2 hours). We could swim, and BBQ and what have you. My parents love the random HoPpers that come through. They loved Bird tongue2 and Brenn and Rougie when they came for my 21st last week!

Either way, I'll come down to Melb for a Sunday sesh and/or a night of madness at Rougie's place! hug

Hey glad you're making it, Doc!

Ya so in Brisbane it is more or less customary to pass through mine and you are most welcome to do so. smile That time of year is good.. just before the Woodford rush kicks in. Kyle McLean lives at mine, Dentrassi used to once upon but like he said he is in South Effrika now. We have lotsa space, pool, easy to get to city. Giant practice mirror in backyard. Um. Etc.
Also about 20 mins from airport by cab or easy 40 by train so you can land here from airport if you like. See ya soon by the sounds of it.
Cheers

Who am I staying with?

frown Your timing is horrible for me and makes it very difficult for me to host you at all! What time does your flight arrive from SFO on 4 Nov? (I bet it's 7.30am or something?) I have to work on both 4th & 5th.

I'm flying interstate to Hobart (Tasmania) for work on the 2 December and return on 6 December in the afternoon, so am pretty much restricted to seeing you on that night before you leave I guess frown Blame Pele - she used up all my annual leave time!

I arrive at 8:05 AM on 4 November. I plan to get a hotel room that night, which will hopefully be one of the few nights I need a hotel in Australia. But that night I want a hotel because I have an 8AM flight the next morning to Christchurwhatzawhoozit to mow some dude's lawn.

So that night I am going to find a place to swim and then I am going to find a Flash Fire to 1) get drinks with and 2) flirt mercilessly with.

Yes, I am evil. But I'm buying the drinks.

Comprendes?

Sounds like a damn fine plan. smile What's your hotel room budget? Let me know and I'll find a good place for you to book. Did you need an Olympic size pool or will a hotel lap pool suffice?

Olympic would be GREAT, actually. (No, I'm serious!). But any 25 meter pool, preferably one with a coach and Masters team would do fine. smile (Don't worry if you can't find one; I will. I'm good at this.)

It's well located too. smile As for a coach and squad, I don't think you can just join on a casual basis. I could be wrong but I am fairly sure squads are members only no matter which pool you're in.

If you want a delightful Sydney experience whilst you're swimming, you can jump in the pool that's located just under the northern end of The Sydney Harbour Bridge. Nice outdoor 50m pool https://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/www/html/2148-about-the-olympic-pool.asp
