Hi! I'm really new at this but, considering that I'm a Leo with an Aries/Mars decanate and was born on a Tuesday (Aries/Mars again), my next logical step has to be fire dancing. Always loved the primal quality to fire dance and can't wait to get good enough to show off a bit!

Well it looks like I got here a bit late. That's the bad thing about Tuesdays, with a meeting at 11:00 it pushes lunch out.

Bye bye JT!

Don't feel bad. I bounce in and out of here so much that it's a wonder that I can keep up with what's going on from one minute to the next.

Yeah, like it gets cold in NC. I remember when I was there, my wife taught at a school down there and they closed school for a "snow day" (it was frost on the windshield). confused

Part of the problem is that the transplants to the state panic as soon as we get the slightest dusting of anything. We had a situation in Raleigh and surrounding areas just a couple of years ago where there was a 12 hour gridlock on the beltline because of about a quarter inch of snow.

I was one of the smart ones that knew how other people around here react and went to pick the kids up from school before the panic set in. So we were nice and cozy at home while everthing from the day commuters to school buses were stuck and had to either walk or spend the night on the highway. We had a few schools that had to keep kids overnight.

I went to college in the mountains so I got used to dealing with snow and ice. That doesn't mean that I have to like it !

Snow's a funny thing. Up where I live, you get used to it, if things shut down for snow then there'd be nothing done in the winter! But go 200 miles down the road to Glasgow, and the whole city actually does come to a standstill when it snows!! It's funny, it happened in March, and all the schools were closed, NONE of the roads were cleared, all the shops shut.....and all for 1 nights worth of snow! Makes me laugh....

Fyre's right though - snow is rubbish. Especially if there's nothing indoors to do! wink

Oh, fs, can I ask what this daylight saving time thing that bush is doing/trying to do is? Is he trying to change the laws of physics or something? Wouldn't suprise me..... (apologies to any Bush supporters there) hug

Hmm...
How to expain Daylight Savings Time.

Well, twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall we change our clocks by an hour...

...the little poem that we teach to be able to remember it is...Spring forward, Fall back...

which means, in the spring we set the clock ahead one hour and in the fall we set them back.

This makes our warm weather days longer and our cold weather days shorter and balances out our calendar somehow. I don't quite get it either. Never really thought about it that much until recently when it was decided that the time when we change the clocks back should be extended so that we have more time in the 'day' to get work done.

Bunch of stuff that makes the grass grow green, if you ask me!

Bush thought it was an excellent idea and has passed the bill to allow it. Dumb***!!!

I think it's going to start messing with peoples's natural body rhythms. It gives most a hard enough time adjusting to the change as it is and now...

utter madness!!!

It's easy when you're not use to snow. I'm use to driving in the stuff but I tend to stay off the roads because of the people that DON'T know how. They can be real dangerous.

Sorry, but how much is he proposing to change the daylight saving hour by? I understand the concept, but the rest of the world only gets an hour. What a doofus the man is (again, apologies to any pro-Bush folks), does he really think that he can change the laws of physics just cause he wants to? Does that not mean that your days will eventually get messed up because of leap years etc? Or am I just being a bit dumb again?

Mwahahahaha!!!! Ooh, I made more shortbread if anyone wants some...

Hey!!! Leave some of that for me!

Chelly, I think what the plan is, is that instead of turnin the clocks back by an hour in late October, it's now going to be sometime in November, then back up again in the spring.

Yeah, weird system.

Personally I'd even like to go back to a Lunar calandar instead of the Solar one but that would really screw with peoples heads!

Wish that I could say the same, darlin.' My mind won't quit even when I'm sleeping. VERY vivid dreams!

Chelly, yes, the lunar calendar follows the cycles of the Moon instead of the cycles of he Sun. Not much of a chance of having it re-instated though, I wouldn't think. We've been following the solar calendar now for quite some time and it would probably throw people into shock if it were changed back.

hmmm... on that... I almost *NEVER* remember my dreams... I assume I must dream, cos everyone does, but I could count on one hand the number of dreams I can remember

why is that do you reckon? cos I don't sleep enough, so I'm always too tired to remember? beats me, but it's a source of some frustration sometimes... I'd really like to see inside my dreams occasionally

I'd love to see a return to a lunar calendar... make it so much easier to remember when moonfest is... tongue wink

Looking up in the sky might give an indication, too. biggrin

Sometimes the vivid dreams are a curse. I sometimes see things that I would rather not have seen. Occasionally the dreams are prophetic and it's frustrating because Inever know which ones should be taken seriously and which are just subconscious problem solvers. I heard a friend screaming in my dreams one time and found out the next day that her ex-husband had snatched her from the parking lot of her work, took her down to the end of a back road, shot her in the head and then shot himself. Left three boys with no parents. I still hear those screams and wish that...no, I've tortured myself about that enough over the years and I need to stop.

Basically what I was trying to say is that not dreaming so much is not necessarily a bad thing.

Gotta go for now.

hug

Pogo - There are 4different states of sleeping (plus REM)
you see your dreams in REM state, if you wake up in the middle of REM you will nearly always remember your dream, but if you wake up during any other state you`ll have a lot higher chance not remembering your dreams.
I almost never remember my dreams, but we all dream because we all go trough these states during our sleep.
Ofcourse if you just take a short nap, you might not get to REM even tho REM is really close to the first state (1st is the one closest to being awake)

Fs- That`s aweful.. world is full of loonatics like him frown

If we can`t live in peace then fu*k it, let`s die.

Unfortunately, yes, the a******s are rampant.
There were quite a few other incidences around that same time with people I knew. One girl was chained up and beaten to death with the leg off of her sons baby crib. The baby was left to crawl around on her until she was found 2 days later. Absolutely horrific!!!!! The man responsible was the babies father. He was found by someone other than the police and ...well, he's no longer with us anymore, either.

The baby is with the girl's parents and is now almost 10.
He has night terrors.
