So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

You are geting way to excited! But am thinking that the canon may be the way to go...sharing lenses, sounds great! You should just do it! Take the plunge and get it, it could be a congratulatory gift for yourself, on surviving your new job! What exactly is it that you are looking at?? biggrin
Lou - that sounds rude, but maybe it's just my naughty mind at work wink

Jean: Totally! Plan the schedule- I'll book myself in for it now biggrin

I should actually curb spending..went on a bit of a spree and bought myself a leather jacket ubblove It's a bit of a plunge seeing all I was after was a wooly pullover to see me to and from work. ubblol But that being said.. I'm looking at a TC-80N3.. for plenty of reasons. Plus I can finally get in the shots myself! bounce

PS. eek Jean! spank

Leather jacket, very nice! biggrin
ooooo... the TC-80N3 looks like a very valuable addition sir, one that you can justify having to spend money on! The long exposure settings are insane, would be great to play around with. smile
YAY! Ry in group shots!

Yay for 'schedule of events for Ry whilst visiting Adelaide'! bounce Looking forward to it already. Was watching a wonderful short doco Alain de Bottom on The Art of Travel on ABC.. and it wrenched the heartstrings a bit. He was talking about the joy and excitement of leaving one place to explore another, and also talked about the sadness of returning.. back to routine and the mundane.. Reminded me of CG and Uberoz..

I'm now watching Sunday Arts.. a little feature on at the moment about an old couple who've been together for 60 years.. they're renewing their vows and practising and it's so sweet.. "In 1942 I promised to love, honour and cherish you.. now almost 60 years later, I promise to continue those vows for the rest of my days.." ubblove

I'm such an incurable.. ubblol

They mentioned that the guy subsequently passed away in 2003, while his partner was still 'alive and kicking'. 60 years..

mmm! I love the leather jacket. It's not cow though.. lambskin and it's really soft. I'll have to remember to not wear it to The Forest or Kuan Yin though (a vegan and a vegetarian food place, respectively) Not sure wearing leather would go down well at a place where they don't serve honey because of bees' rights.

Even better though, I stayed awake the whole of last night, and taught myself how to use a sewing machine (with a couple of tips from Sarah re top tension ubbangel). I've put together wrap/tie pants! Reversible. First go, so they're not too flash.. I'll have to put some pictures up!

Yeah! That TC-80N3 looks super! In theory, I could plant myself a plant, have the camera set to take one shot every hour while I'm at work, and when I put it together, it'll be a little time lapse plant video!

Also! I could just put in all my settings I usually do in firetwirling shots, set the camera to say, take one shot every 30 seconds, and just leave the camera to document moonfest by itself!! In theory of course..

Terrible how the weekend went so quickly.. back to work again tomorrow. Must ask about leave.

In other news.. I get to wear my new pants to juggle!! biggrin ubbrollsmile

How's your weekend going miss? hug

WOW! You have been busy!

That doco sounds wikkid, and really is one of those terrible things about travelling, and Sunday Arts sounds like a tear jerker! ubbcrying - but happy tears of course.

Congrats on the sewing machineness... tis a good thing to know. And loads of fun ubbrollsmile

mmmm, I dont think the leather would go down too well with the food places. But it sounds like a lurvely jacket smile

It would most certainly be a wonderful thing to have a timer and settings that you can adjust that freely, means you could do the whole flower blooming, weather changing, nite into day, day into nite time lapse stuff. 4 days of availiable time lapse would be an amazing tool to have. The flexibilty of options certainly is appealing. biggrin

Ah the weekend... was a good one. Bridge was pretty good, not as many ppl as usual, it is starting to get quite cold at night so I think ppl avoid the coldness, but with Uni exams, I believe it may become quiet for the next couple of weeks. But we still have loads of fun. tongue

Last nite and today I have spent with Shane'o, it was his going away party last nite - that was quite the event! - he is leaving next Sunday to move to Byron Bay. frown

I would lurve to see some piccies of the pants... biggrin

hug the week will hopefully go relatively quickly for you and it will be the weekend again before you know it! smile

I gotta learn me some sew skills... Another one of those "some day" things.. speaking of "some day" things, you been too busy to shoot some CoL footage? I gave it a thought for half a second, then thought nah.. lemme learn some more about these doubles staff thingies and this contact staff hoohah hullaballoo.. then next year (if it's still goin *crosses fingers*) I'll give it a whirl.. Maybe have a computer and some software to actually possibly make a decent go at a vid smile.

Ahwell, take it easy, keep on sewing!
Peace,

Sui: Thanks dude! I think so too biggrin Will have to source some cheap fabric though.. this one was a bit pricey.. and it used 4 metres! COL.. uhmmm... ubblol As much as I'd love to, I don't think I'll get the time to put anything together.. frown I think you totally should if you've got the time though.. Maybe I'll end up with a last minute job.. not sure yet ubbangel..

Jean: Ta muchly.. you like?? biggrin

Mand: Yeah they're not too difficult eh? A bit tedious cutting fabric though.. had a bit of a drama a bit early on, because I used 4 large pieces (just needed 2, but I made it reversible), instead of halving each and making 8, I had early problems getting the fabric exactly an assymmetrical shape. Fixed it in the end though, but I'm amazed I did.. (I won't tell if you won't) wink

I've also adapted my design a bit to be fully sewn pants- nice and fitted at the top, and hugely baggy at the bottom. They're all funky colours/ materials. I'm only working on the first pair of them at the mo- silver pants, with blue fluffy stars down the side.
