I'm looking to buy some braided rope (to make some rope poi) but i wanna put the ends together and then twist it around and around and sew it together, does anyone have any idea on how much wick i'l need to buy as i really dont wanna come up short or have 5ft left over!

Depends how long you want the poi!
If you're just folding it over and twisting the rope take the length of poi, double it, add about 20% for twisting shrinkage and errors. You can keeps the ends together by various means, but if you use a small knot then add a bit more.
You can also buy some cheap rope of the same diameter and experiment beforehand.
