"Rule nr.1 - You are playing with fire. Respect that! Cause fire can be like other beauties.....Extremely dangerous............"
When I do fire I always have some water with me...I'm not afraid of burning up, but the problem is the burning fuel. Cause one of the worse things that can happen is that the poi's hit each other and burning fuel get thrown in your face (imagine your eyes on fire). So be a bit aware of how exposed your eyes are and where you look. Another thing is clothing. I use jeans-pants, wool sweaters and ALLWAYS a hat/beanie on my head that cover all my hear... (see the 'cloth's' and 'fuel' threads here at HOP)
Another thing is your surroundings. You don't intend to throw your poi's far away but if you loose controll and your instincts kick in you could accidentally start a fire, or hit one in your audience (keep some distance).
Tangles and Grip...hard to take precautions, but the more experience you got the better you handle you f... up's. It's good to be able to let go of your poi's. Stay focused on what you're doing.. There's is a difference betweeen knowing a trick with unlit and lit poi's
Alcohol and drugs....hmmm use common sense....
I know this safety-thread can sound at bit....well....but I've heard some stories and I've made some stories so I wish I had this to read before my first times
If anyone have anything to add please do.....
