Ive been applying for teaching jobs for ages and always go to interviews trying to put on an act (some schools are so snobby i felt i had to), today i went to an interview and thought sod it, if they dont like me for who i am then the school isnt right for me- and i got the job!!!
Today reminded me of the importance of being ourselves and not worrying if we will not meet peoples standards! We should be happy as we are and love ourselves for what we are!
Just felt like sharing that with everyone as im super duper happy and want everyone else to be aswell!!!!

congrats!

Pretending to be someone you're not can often work to get things you want, but then you find you hafta maintain the charade if you are to keep them, and that really sucks. Being yourself generally has a fairly low success rate in things (well at least for me anyway), but what you end up with when it does come together is something well worth waiting for.

Anyway kids, until next time, take care of yourselves, aaaaand each other

also, when you're pretending to be someone you're not is really really hard when the person that you are pretending to be is standing right next to you. And tickling you.

If you have to pretend to be someone else to get a job, then surely the job isn't the right one for you?

Aside from all the philosphical stuff, isn't misrepresenting yourself to an employer unethical?

In my opinion, of course...

Congratulations! Those US sitcoms were right after all - just be yourself*

I remembered this thread as something rather funny but also a bit annoying has just happened to me. Today was my first job interview for about 5 years, and only my 3rd ever 'proper' job interview.

Anyway, the interview went well, I think! A couple of hours later the recruiter who set the interview up calls me with feedback. Apparently I've got the right skills to do the job, and then some, but I failed on one point: I came across as too laid back!

I reckon if I'm too chilled to work with these guys then I don't wanna work with them

Yup, no good can possibly come from pretending to be someone less important than yourself.

Well done tattty!
