Hello,
Slightly bored sod ecided to tell you all the fascinating story of my latest injury, ok we've all been there so lets not say we havent but I was spinning slightly under the influence of alcohol *ahem* and threw the staff up and happened to have miss judged the landing by a clear foot, how i did that i have no idea and the metal bit right in the centre of the wick it me straight in the forehead, so now i have a nice lil slice in the middle of my head, lovely,
Anyone else with a new one?

Man, I haven't had any recent spinning injuries recently... few stubbed toes from having devil sticks fall on them, few bruises from the beamers...

outside of poi I broke my nose again on thursday doing some kick boxing...then bashed it again today doing some more kick boxing...now it hurts again...later tonight I managed to cut my lip right open from one side to the other (for arm to the face -.-)...
Man, when you list them out like this, they start adding up fast...considering that's an average week for me right there...no wonder my girlfriend worries ^.^'

I remember on my 3rd or 5th burn when i was about 11 yrs old, i was butterflying to my hearts content, i brought them over my head and simply twatted myself round the head.....

i dont think i singed too many hairs, but just a splitting headache followed

owww, poor you, my poi seem to liek hitting me in the nuts, when i do the butterfly occassiopnally they decide to collide right in the centre and they always seem to wanna go in one direction, straight for the nads, oh well at least my poi are clever

Dude I know how you feel, it's either the left nut on straight of the nose. :P

The only reason i'm scared of little kid's is because I know in ten year's time they'll be mugging me.....

I keep managing to whack myself in the back with the poi (unlit of course tongue ) then with staff, about 2-3 weeks ago, I was practicing throws and when I went to catch it... It landed straight on the edge of my (middle) finger nail whacking it against my finger tip. That HURT. :x I was left with a tiny bruise under the nail though.

*pities guys with regards to butterfly related injuries*

ive never burnt myself per se, ive came very close, trying to catch a high throw then makin a grab for teh wick, luckily i missed but still caught the end of teh wick. no visible mark but it was kinda hot. as for blunt force trauma theres been a lot of that, im constantly smacking the back of my head, my knuckles (especially with double staff) and any other exposed body part.

my hands have... (counts)... four scars on them mainlky form teh ali sheet under the wicks slicing into teh side of my hands. i ahve one on top of my hand where i was passing from one hadn to the other and caught the top of my hand with my thumbnail proceeding to rip a chunk of flesh out, it would have been alright if i hadnt have forgot and an hour later wondered what all the scum was under my nail!!

I'm tryin to get some hand movements down.. catch the poi, dance a bit with the flaming wicks in hand. Unfortunately, a small finger adjustment while holding the wick landed my index finger right on the washer.. went kinda like: regrip.. sizzzzle.. eek "that's gonna hurt"..

It woulda too, but lavender essential oil kicks much assination in dealing with burns. It was almost about one inch burn that covered much of the tip of my index finger. Instead of blistering up and hurting like a *#&$*, it just turned to a layer of dead skin, like a callous. Was even able to continue drumming through the night smile.

Moral of the story: Get yourself some nice, organic lavender oil for your safety kit. It's good for first and second degree burns not much larger than an inch that don't have a ruptured blister.

I have none ... but the other week, some guy in our club managed to lock the clip that holds his fire head poi to the chain whilst they where round his leg and on fire. There was no way those things where coming undone in a hurry ... he was ok, all that got damaged was his dignity (as we had to rip his trousers off to get the poi off him).

While ago was spinnin flames and the poi hit each and instead of going for nads like they normally do, the one went straight for my eye. It was very very incredibly unpleasent, i couldnt open that eye for about an hour thanks to the impact + parafin, was fine next day except for burnt eyelashes and bit of eyebrow

Practise makes Poi-fect :P
