Which Kevlar wick should I use?
The Kevlar wicks we sell are ideal for all types of fire poi, fire staff and fire fans. Look after your wick — keep it pulled tight and free of fuel residue — and it can last for years. We also stock kevlar rope, kevlar webbing and kevlar sleeve for custom fire prop builds.
What kevlar products does Home of Poi sell?

How should I care for my kevlar wick?
Never let your kevlar wick smolder. If you leave the flame to burn out on its own, the wick will slowly burn away and fall apart. Always extinguish the flame before the smoldering stage. Sunlight degrades and darkens kevlar over time, so use wick covers when carrying fire props during daylight — it also keeps fuel residue off your clothes. Many spinners wrap tin foil over the wicks, then a colourful sock; we also sell fluffy covers that fit most common kevlar fire heads.
How do I reduce screw head burns?
A lot of spinners fasten their wick to the prop with screws, then get branded when those screw heads heat up. Stitch a flap of kevlar tape over the screw heads to insulate them. Because pure kevlar is expensive, our kevlar wick also contains aramid fibers and fabric-grade fiberglass — not the itchy or stabby kind; we work with it every day. Sold in 100ft (30m) full rolls, or by the metre or foot.
How do I cut kevlar wick?
Kevlar has extremely high cut resistance — it'll blunt the most expensive scissors fast. At Home of Poi we use box cutters or craft knives with replaceable blades. Do not use your partner's favourite dress fabric scissors, or you'll be in trouble.
What is kevlar rope used for?
Kevlar rope is the round-braid version of our kevlar wick. Spinners use it for monkey-fist wick heads, rope dart wicks, and as the structural core inside larger custom fire wicks. Same heat resistance as flat wick, just a different format.
What is kevlar webbing and kevlar sleeve?
Kevlar webbing is a wider, heavier flat weave — great for fire fan heads, large wraps, or any high-heat structural section. Kevlar sleeve is tubular, designed to slip over chains, cables, or other fire prop parts you need to shield from direct flame contact.
