Posted: Hi,
About 8 years ago, I got a 3rd degree acromio-clavicular (a-c) joint injury snowboarding. A 3rd degree is basically a complete tear of the both the AC and the CC ligaments that hold your collar bone down. Cause the ligs are torn 100% there is obvioiusly no chance to heal. This is the type of injury that people have when it looks like their collar bone is sticking up and floating around. For a variety of reasons, the med profession generally takes the view that it not necessary to operate with 3rd degree, so most persons just have to get on with their lives.
I can get by, but the injury does set limitations as to what I can do with poi or staff or really anything involving that shoulder. There are some medical procedures (open Weaver-Dunn for example),that claim to be able to restore function and I am wondering whether anyone has had experience in getting one of these procedures and what was the results?
Much thanks for any insights.
spirituality can be seen as just intiution.....

Personally I have not gone through any medical surgeries in the collar bone.
One thing I have done is thrown out my shoulder(s) several times due to sports, and I find POI almost helps, or if not strengthens the muscles in that (those) shoulder(s).
As for the limitations, maybe explain a bit more. If you can do many of the movements in POI I think you should be good enough to create a routine or performance for others.
However, if you feel surgery will suffuce, maybe you should go ahead and get it. Make sure the doctors can guarantee that you wil be able to have full movement in that area.
Sorry I can't fully relate, however, that is my advice.
