So it seems there might be a few spinners heading to asia this winter with spinning on their minds. I just wanted to see who else is heading over, what their plans are while they're over there.

My tickets are booked! I'm arriving in bangkok 16th november, and returning to ireland 3rd February

I've heard from a lot of spinners of a park in bangkok where people meet up every day to play. Thanks to Banshee Cat for the following info:

 Written by:

It is the Pra Atit boat stop, and the park is called Pra Sumen. I would reccommend staying closish by at the guesthouses on Sri Ayyutaya rd-- Tavees Guesthouse, or Sri Ayyutaya's, or Shantis, all very close together down that road. Nice community... May Kai Dees is a great restaurant for veggie food along near that strip-two locations, one on samsen, and one off the end of Kho San rd and across the st.... Probably more specific address in the guide books...

Nick (poi celebrity number 1 wink) is planning on a poi camp in Pai, northern Thailand, where spinipulation enthusiasts can meet up and play, practice, etc (see his post below). I definately plan on spending some time up there with him during my adventure. Probably stop number one after bangkok... ubbrollsmile

Leave your winter behind, come find some winter summer!

COME SEE HOW FAR THE RABBIT HOLE GOES!

Hey tom, have you figured out your visa stuff yet? The whole not being allowed in the country for more than three of six months is bogus you know, you just have to go out and apply for a visa at an embassy or consulate in another country, then go back in. It is just you can not get the one month extensions repeatedly at the border etc. And of course, there is no quarantee that they will give a visa at all when you apply. But the three of six months thing is irrelevant if you apply for visas in the proper fashion. Am I making sense? Hope so!

I just bought myself a visa for a year. whew. lawyers...

Andrea, maybe that's just due to "Visa on arrival" - dunno, but thanx for your concern... In April my 6-month term is renewed, so I'd have another 90 days anyways.

Listen, at the airport, when I came in Feb. they were taking my passport, counting the no. of days I already stayed in Thailand since last October and told me: "We can only give you a visa until March." shrug

Maybe they bamboozled me, but with Thai authorities, I clearly can't get this picture... wink

confusing, innit?

That was because it was the airport... If you had applied at a consulate outside the country before arrival, you would have had anywhere up to three months...

But I am glad it has all worked out fine for you regardless! hug hug

Heh Nick - your heading over to Bali heh?
I may well be heading there around the 30 April - if youre still around we should hook-up.
I met a UK woman who stayed at a Balinese house of a VERY rich Barrister (5 star style bungalows, cooks, drivers) all for free!!!
Apparently the guy is up for anyone staying (sounds too good to be true heh!!) im gonna get the details and maybe head there from Borneo where im stopping off on my way back to the UK and onto Canada. If youre intersted i'll let you know?
Anyhow hope youre well - seems like youve sparked off something of a invasion of Spinners to Thailand - nice!!
NZ and OZ have been good - lots of street, busy as. Se you in Bali or Europe I hope
Peas out

Thanks F.Tom! No need to pass a message on, got it covered.

Did you meet Fritz( mosaic artist/musician from Holland) on Ko PG? He was also at the Rainbow. At any rate he has offered to get me one if I can not make it out there in person. I know I like the tone of his, so he will be able to select a scale that is similar. Yay!

All visitors are welcome,it is going to be a blast! But I must say, it looks like I will have to set up some kind of a booking system , or everyone will need to sleep in one big pile on my porch-- under a mossie net of course... But it will be amazing what we can accomplish all working together.

( Australia is out of bounds for me now, sigh )

Have checked that site, and many others. Been thinking about this drum a while, and bumped into it everywhere on this last trip to Thailand. Interesting!
