Below are 4 questions. Answer them instantly. You can't take your time.

Answer them immediately. No pencil or paper! OK? Let's find out just how
smart
and clever you really are. Ready? ... GO!!!

FIRST QUESTION: You are participating in a race. You overtake the second
person.
What position are you in?

ANSWER: If you answer that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If
you
overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second! Try not
to
screw up in the next question.

To answer the second question, don't take as much time as you took for the
first
question. (You know you took too much time.)

SECOND QUESTION: If you overtake the last person, then you are...?

ANSWER: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong
again.
Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST person?!

THIRD QUESTION: Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only.
Do
NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 30.
Add another 1000.
Now add 20.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 10.
What is the total?

ANSWER: Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100. Don't believe

it?
Check with your calculator! Today is definitely not your day. Maybe you will

get
the last question right?

LAST QUESTION: Mary's father has five daughters: Nana, Nene, Nini, Nono.
What
is
the name of the fifth daughter?

ANSWER: Nunu? Nana? Nene? NONO! Of course not. The fifth daughter's name is
Mary. Read the question again.

lets see how many you get right.....

i got the first and the last...the 3rd really confused me....but i worked out why in the end..

I missed the 4100 one. Oops.

The overtaking last place it's right you can't. I thought about maybe lapping last. If you do, you're still in whatever place you were in before that.

FYI: I am not Pele. If you wish to reply to me and use a short version of my name, use: PWB.

But you don't overtake last. You just lap him. When you overtake a position you gain their position number. Overtake second place, makes you in second place.

Actually, according to the dictionary, lap means to overtake. Webster sez:

Main Entry: 2lap
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): lapped; lap·ping
Date: 14th century
transitive senses
...
6 a : to overtake and thereby lead or increase the lead over (another contestant) by a full circuit of a racecourse b : to complete the circuit of (a racecourse)
intransitive senses
...

So if you overtake the guy in last place you just lapped him. You could be in any number of position (not just first) that is a lap ahead. Don't you race trucks or somethin?

So I guess the answer to #2 is TECHNICALLY either it's impossible OR you don't know...

I love symantics.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Then Websters has not kept up to date with the sport usage of lap as it is now used by sportsmen and commentators...

(American dictionary...can't even spell aluminium )

To lap someone, you must be running a course more than once, and pass them on one of your consecutive laps, so you are at least one lap ahead.

Not mention the lap as in your upper thigh area when you site down.

Or the lap which is to drink something with your tongue.

Or the lap as in someone from Lapland

Or...

(Isn't English great!!!!!!!!)

PS did anyone get my three deliberate spelling mistakes?
