It was on a fateful day in February that I first joined HOP, but I didn't realise that I had to do this whole introductory thing. Now that I'm firmly established as a loyal member on HOP (since I bought some stuff from the shop wink ), I figured I may as well firmly make my mark here... few people beyond the Dutch spinners actually know me :/ I'm one of few South Africans on HOP....
So, my name is Colleen, I live in Johannesburg, SA, 24 yo; I'm a writer that does poi for sanity relief... I play piano, do digital paintings when I can, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as Honours in English, and I plan to outlive the infamy that those 2 degrees bring me [SIC!]
My favourite colour is anything that glows well under UV wink
My favourite ice cream flavour is strawberries and cream *yummy*
I do flag poi, ribbon poi, fire poi (when I'm feeling brave enough)... oh, and I scored 88% on the fire test on HoP's homepage wink

hi everyone!

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I started poi in Feb, right? Then I went to Amsterdam for 3 months, from April - July and found out what a spinning community is really supposed to be like. Those guys are awesome. Since I came back I've been trying to get people interested in poi... things might just be coming together now. I did a fire performance at a night club last weekend and got some people asking for lessons wink but yeah, the dutch guys are a GREAT bunch of spinners....

hehe... yeah, but you guys would probably welcome me more, though... cos I'm half Irish

I think anyone who's part of a community of poiple is great... I've been battling my arrrrse off trying to get a group together in South Africa. But maybe things will swing the right way soon... there's a bunch of us getting it on for the first time this weekend, so I hope there's a continuation if it goes well....

There used to be a really stroppy guy from SA on the boards. Can't remember his name right now. But you probably don't want him in your group anyway. He was all grumpy and never got any of my jokes. Plus i reckon he smelt horrid.... (on account of his extreme grumpiness)....

So which half of you is Irish?

Meh

The spinning is going fabulous... but it took me 7 months of soft poi before I got the courage to spin with fire. right now, I just can't get enough of the flames.... I even bought citronella lamp oil so that it smells nice when I spin ubblol

got a long way to go though.....
