Bubbles!!!

Amelie had the wonderfull idea of building toys that could spread bubbles around the place and i've been trying to think up some ways of doing this.

The simplest solution is to say, make a stick with a hoop on each end and then dip it. If you got the speed right you should get some bubble action going on. This is a bit clunky and stoppy starty though.

Am wondering though if it would be possible to make a toy that could hold the liquid and make some use of the centrifugal force during spinning to push the bubbles out. I cant think of any way to do this yet though as the bubbles also need air being pushed out.

I've had a discussion about making bubble poi before and we came up with loads of ideas, none of which we ever tried making. The main problem is keeping the liquid inside the container but still allowing enough to come out to give a steady stream of bubbles. I never did figure out a way of doing it. I'm sure there must be a way. I just haven't had the idea come and slap me in the face yet. biggrin

Perhaps a rotating circle of bubble hoops (ie a bunch of small circles arranged in a bigger one that rotates via motor). The thing will rotate and there will be a small container of bubble solution at the bottom that they swab through, essentially keeping at least one hoop full at all times. Could prove to be hard to make but would definately work.

I saw a stall at Glastonbury this year that was selling fire bubbles...when they burst you get fire balls! How cool. The guy couldn't show us as there were too many people and the mixture was soooooo expensive!

Bubble poi though.....two of the things that make me happy brought together in one amazing medium. biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin Woot! Would love to see in action!
