yes it a vid.. before you get excited, there's a few things you need to know.. thanks to hurricane rita, I cant go outside.. so I had to film indoors, where I had no room to dance.. I made this as a preface to a series of tuts I'm going to shoot on a lot of the stuff in the film: bf inversions; splithreads; sd inversions (first and second degree); utl; atl; tosses into one handed; tosses out of one handed; one handed passes, weaves, and wraps.. so I left out a lot of things like regular wraps.. (I think glowstringers need to see more poi anyway.. they see wraps all the time)

the lighting is bad... and the focus was screwed.. I still havent learned all the nifty features of my camera..

so is there any reason to watch it? yes, because you finally get to see me flow a little.. (in some places anyway)

practice (right click, save as) [10. 2 megs]

edit: now with fixed link and a bonus website..

Very nice! Thanks for sharing that. Though, I had to crank up the brightness in order to see you, it was still worth watching. Are you going to be using something heavier than glowsticks when recording the tuts?

My best vibes to you and yours, Rita looks like a monster.

Definition of poi- A Hawaiian food made from the tuber of the taro that is cooked, pounded to a paste, and fermented.

easily the best poi video you have made. but then all the ones I ahve seen before this are the classy nerdy style.. kind of like Glass videos... showing off a few ultra difficult moves,... but forgettting to take off the lab coat and safety goggles...

HAH HAH ... now I'm messing with you.... hug

nice video dude. And for the record.. I like nerds :P ANd circus freaks... ubblove

my tribal superman shirt? I didnt know i had worn that one in some of my clips before.. it was one of the few light colored shirts I have.. and as you can tell I was scraping for light..

I wish I could have spun outdoors so I could have had more room to move.. showing off more variety would have been nice to, but I think this shows some freestyling of the tuts I'll be putting out at the end of next week.. and thats all I really wanted..

glad you liked it.. though I think the music is questionable.. but I got outvoted..

LMMFAO... I should change my name from Rev to 11bt weave.. that's all anyone ever asks about.. it is one of the most impractical moves ever.. but I guess that's why people like it..

I didnt use most of my repetoire in this because I wanted it to focus on the patterns that I'm going to be using in my poi goes punk series.. I'll save the rest for a nice day outside..

Love the inversions. Planes, planes all over the place.

Interesting mindgames you had in the middle there, as well as some of the between the leg moves. Much I haven't seen before so mojor props.

Looking forward to more inversions and tutorials.

Cheers,

~Kael

no kidding... redface

You and Richee make me want to go out and spin with your kind words... If things go well, I should have some time around mardi gras to dust off my sock poi, and shoot some outside footage.. I just really havent been in the mood to spin lately since my spinning buddies are gone..

thx mint for resurrecting this thread..

a new vid would be great
"but your hands dance like flames"
so true you have a very distinct style one I've not seen before.
A bit more light would be good so we can see what the strings are doing

Love the vid Rev! It's so good to actually see "bf inversions; splithreads; sd inversions" for once, instead of reading about them in the techy threads ubblol

Very inspiring, and a wonderful blend of tech and flow. Can't wait for more! biggrin

If I had been spinning socks, it would have looked a lot like oli, I think... Evertime I talk to him, we are usually working on quite similar things (or were 'til you got him doing those cool club based thingys).. and I always come away from watching one of his vids with new ideas..

I wish I could spin like andy though... subtle fluid body movements that create this effortless accent to the smooth constant transition between moves..
ubblove I cant dance for sh*t, so my body is too stiff in my movement...

No EJC.. I'm lame.. I dont have time nor money to do anything.. partly because I'm doing thesis writing..

Keep up the good work :P
