I'm a month into traveling around the world and I leave for Sydney on monday. So the the questions are:

What's worth seeing/doing?
Does anyone want to get together and maybe teach me a bit?
How much does the beer cost?
Is there anyway I can learn a bit more djembe (african drumming)

Thanks all you lovely people ubbrollsmile

I start in Sydney but I've got 3 months so I'll probably stick to the east coast. Anyone else?

Certainly will but it'll be at the end of the 3 months as I fly out of there. I think the plan is to start Sydney, up to Cairns then back down to Brisbane. Not sure on the stops in the middle. any suggestions?

2.20 a pot? Is that 2.20 dollars or pounds? Is a pot a can or a piture?

Yes, beer terminology is silly here.. pots, ponies and schooners. I find pints and half pints so much more practical! Depending what beer you get, I think buying cartons you can get 1.50 a stubby (another silly term). Think can. shrug

Yes, what Val says- why don't you stop at Brissie on the way up to Cairns? sunny

I might, it's just that I fly out of Brisbane. Seemed to make sence to skip it on the way up as I'll have to come back down to it anyway.

MACKAY!

Loads of people would avoid it and head straight up for Proserpine and that skunk-hole Airlie Beach with those hideous little Whitsunday Islands. Who needs that when you can play on a floodplain and feed the mosquitos in the mangrove?

AND go furniture shopping on a Sunday (10.00 till 4.00). Who says regional Queensland isn't up there with the rest of the world?

Mackay Mackay Mackay!

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Heh...whitsunday islands was the best holiday I've ever been to. I want to live at Airlie Beach!

There's plently of spinners in Melbourne, weekly meets in parks where people spin. I'm a few hours from Melb but I'll be coming for a spin within the next few weeks hopefully!

.All things are beautiful if we take the time to look.

I Agree! Happiness is a state of mind. Not Lithuania

Come to Tassie. Great city. Friendly people. Local spinning community

Bah. Not really the sunny welcome I was expecting. I get here and it pisses it down, later I find my card has been cancelled so I have $20 to my name till I can get a wire transfer after Easter.

Not awesome.

Domino, drop me a PM if you fancy catching up this weekend in Sydney. I have some assignments to do, but I am sure I could find some time to say hi to a lonely pommy bastard

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

I'm sure it's an "Experience" (notice the capital letter) and "Character Building" but more than anything it's a pain in the arse...

Still, I found a place not closed over Easter and cashed a traveler's cheque so I'm not broke any more. Things are on the up.
