So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Had several things on the 17th.. Helping someone shoot a wedding is probably my top priority for the day though. They didn't get a professional photog for the event, and the guy I know who is going to cover it, although he has a top shelf camera and lens, I don't think he's got the one particular lens for the occasion or experience to cover the event itself. He was going to get the same flash I've got, but wasn't sure about settings either.

I thought I'd offer backup, plus it'd give me a chance to test my new gear (hopefully it comes during the week.. well it better.), and I'd get some experience too, and it'd be good word of mouth if the shots come out alright.

Unfortunately, this means missing out on Taj's thing (sorry lil buddy..), but when he's a big famous photographer, like I intend to turn him into (oops, did I say that aloud), he'll understand biggrin

When I shot film (I don't anymore.. cost more than anything..), my favourite combination for casual daytime photography was printing Fuji Reala (100) on Kodak Royal (glossy). The film cost about AUD7-8.50 a roll depending where you get it, and the prints could be made at most Kodak labs (Kodak's Noritsu machines do good neg to cd scans too btw.. I've had multiple TERRIBLE experiences with the same cost/level Fuji labs.) Sometimes you have to tell the staff not to do any adjustments to the print, especially with fire shots.. You can tell if a print's been tweaked if the numbers behind aren't all 0. e.g. -2 0 -3..

For sports/action I used Fujipress 1600, printed on Fuji Royal as well. Bit grainy, but gets the shots..

For black and white, Ilford Delta 100, FP4 Plus (125) or HP5 Plus (400), and I'd print it on Ilford multigrade IV RC Deluxe (Glossy and Satin), multigrade RC Cooltone (Pearl) . But these days I haven't got easy (or cheap) access to a dark room, so I've not made my own black and white prints in about a year..

I've also found accidentally, basing this on the first print I made from my digital camera, in Singapore- that Konica Minolta labs which print on Konica DIGITAL Golden Dragon paper do damn fine digital prints. From my own camera, possibly the best consumer grade digital prints I've seen. That being said, I'm still searching for a consumer lab optimised for digital prints. The Kodak labs I used to be so happy with for film haven't been giving me good results. Quite sloppy, to be honest.
