so i was just reading the insults for doing poi thread which brings up all the naughty things drunk moron spectators do but some spinners have some bad habits to.

during my time in the uk there was only one spinner i met who got under my skin, i wont name names but shall recant what i feel is bad etiquite. so at one of the lovely gatherings i went to i was teaching some contact staff to a friend of mine whom id promised a lesson, part way through this spinners comes and joins in spinning and starts contradicting what im saying and upon trying to demonstrate "the correct way" to do and elbow hand hand elbow roll kept dropping it so i kept on teaching my friend and ignored the other spinner. but being the persistant one that he was he kept at it and when i was demonstrating fishtails he told me that i was doing them wrong ...... now my fishtails arnt perfect and im always looking to learn something new so i asked for a demonstration and he couldnt keep the stick on the back of his hand for half a beat!!! so i showed him again and he was insistant that i was doing them wrong so then he held the staff on the back of his hand and move it in the same path that i had been. at which point i had to put my sticks down and walk away

enthusiasm is one thing but contracting someones teaching who u dont know to someone else who u dont know is a big no no in my book especially when u cant actually do the move

my other naughty spinners pet hate is ppl that dont burn off or spin out away from everyone

Yeah I hate getting splased with fuel. Im always looking to learn new stuff cos Ive been spinning staff for god knows how many years now, but I really hate the people who are really good but if you ask them how to do something they jst refuse to show you or pretend theyve suddenly gone deaf. (Ive only ever met onw person like that)

Hmm spinning out away from everyone - I agree. Everytime I do it (which isn't that often) I get out of peoples way but seem to always catch the wind in the wrong direction and cover myself! Hence parafinfairy I guess! smile

Mind you, I agree on the whole 'is that real fire' I just give them the frozen fire thing from "The Day Today", and I also be quite sarcastic, as the chavs are trying to be hard, and the look on their faces as you ridicule them is hard to beat.

I hate it when your there spinning away (or at least trying to) and another spinner comes up and joins in to see what they can learn..... after realising they are actually alot more advanced than you they then show off for a while and then move on to find someone else and dont talk to you for the rest of the meet. xxx

No its not that, i mean i understand that im not the best spinner and that pretty much all the moves i can do - so can everyone else. It just knocks your confidence when someone starts spinning and then just walks off. If i find someone spinning that is maybe not as advanced as i am (which isnt very often) i will at least stop and watch and maybe comment or give advice. and at least have a bit of a spin with them - which at the end of the day i guess its all about.

I guess some people are poi whores - take all the moves they can and then on to the next spinner. xxx

it's nice at time's to just stand there with one or two other people, and just have a little spin thing going, but one problem i have is when someone asks me to teach them, because most of the things i can do i learnt by mistake, so i cant really help frown
