top o' the morning wales based poiple! this is the thread for all things wales based, although the crew is mostly based in the land of taff currently with a sizeable offshoot in the land of tawe, please talk about funky things all over cymru in this thread!!



so, for the uninitiated, here is an exciting list of regular poi activities for the wales based....



weavesmiley Cardiff/Caerdydd:



smile Thursday nights, 8-10pm, come along to Ebenezer Church (Charles Street, around the back of Burger King and Next) for nofitstate circus' community juggling club, for poi and all sorts of other exciting juggle arts. It's just £2.

smile on sunny evenings/days, Roath Park (Rec. or flower garden) you may well find a NOn spinning... it might also not be a NOn, or even a HoP person at all, but if you see someone there spinning, you may as well say hello...

Cardiff Games, Duke St Arcade: although not exclusively a juggling shop, they stock some poi, juggling balls and rings, plus occasional other sorts of toys... oh and the guy who owns it does poi too!

The toucan club shut down several months ago, due to the council allowing a 2 million pound flat development to go on above it and reducing there late night music license... so they sold out to a trendy wine bar

Though have no fear the toucan is making a return.... it is planned to reopen on the 21st of Jan and take over journeys on newport road, not quite in town anymore and alot smaller but it still should be good . . .

yup we have been poor at meeting up recently but there is a juggling club in Cardiff centre on thursday night from 8 - 10 pm at ebenezer church hall.... it is down the side street of queen street next to burger king (there are big next signs as you walk down the side street )

The place is on the left, let me know if you need better directions or want to meet up before hand so we can show you where it is ....

There are generally lots of people there doing different things.... at all levels.

we are quite flaky, it is to be agreed, i am especially so when it comes to juggling club.... however i might get there next week... that's not tomorrow, that's next thursday biggrin

hmmm... but we should have a big (well as big as they get) cardiff meet before matty buggers off, nej? although, when could that be? someone else suggest, as i am working stupid days...

Im another new one. I've had one day of lessons in poi... drunkenly... at a festival... from a mate... and I'm not even Welsh. But I do love poi ridiculously and live in Cardiff, so perhaps you'll forgive me. I always feel a bit stupid doing poi in public by myself and it makes me wish student accomodation came with a back garden cause these rooms are too damn small to spin properly in, so meeting other spinners would be fun. Plus, I'm always up for learning a new thing or two.

Rossco, Non and Matty B are in Cardiff. They all go, on and off, to the juggling club in Cardiff centre on thursday night from 8 - 10 pm at ebenezer church hall. There is spinning, uni-cycling, acro and other stuff than just juggling done there. I hope that helps biggrin

Right . . .no luck finding a map that is of any use so here goes on a description

1. Queen Street (Main shopping street)

2. Find Charles street (opposite whsmiths, there is a burger king on the corner and if you look down it, there are big next signs sticking out of the left hand wall)

3. Walk down Charles street until you get to the church on your left.

4. There is a side street to your left here walk down it a bit, until you reach a gateway into the church grounds.

5. Step down the one or two steps and then head for the door on your left (it is green but it is difficult to tell though) and come on in , cos you found the juggling club.

It is part of the No fit state circus - https://www.nofitstate.com

Juggling club is from 8pm till 10pm and costs £2.

I might look into that. I doubt I'll be able to make it regularly for now though because I have drama rehersals from 6-10 on Thursday nights. At least, until my play is staged in early March. I suppose you don't need any particular level of skill for this place? Because I'm not pretending to have any - at all.

Unfortunately I am leaving cardiff at the end of feb ...
looks like I have out stayed my welcome , but there are still lots of others that go, though not always that many poiers

When it isn't raining, a few of us do a little fire skit at the Hawian on city rd on Tuesdays. . . They have an opn mic night and live band, buffet all for £2 squid 'tis a good night if anyone fancys , food is at 9pm usually. . .

Well I might try and pop in while you're still in Cardiff then. I hate turning up to these sort of things without knowing anybody at all. I'm always running in between Liverpool and Cardiff as it is anyways 'cause I'm only here for uni. What kind of format does the club run? Lessons or just a space for people to practise whatever they like?
