Well, howdy folks!!

Thought I'd just say Hi to you all and introduce myself... as you do....

My name's Ed. wave

Time to re-do this intro page, methinks...

Well. I'm now Older than my Teeth, but not quite as old as my Fingernails... also known as 23.

I have many interests. I have OCCJD (Obsessive, Compulsive Contact Juggling Disorder wink ) I spin poi, Attempt a bit of Staff, I devilstick... I've recently discovered the Joy of Urban Dance, and am trying to incorporate it into my Contact Juggling... Illusion is Great! I like straight lines. I like robotics. I like isolation, and I Love with a capital 'L' Hugs!! I love to be silly and play, after all, that's what Life is all about. I love to learn and experience new things, and am constantly Striving to improve my spinning/manipulation. I love to use '...' way too much... biggrin

My Taste in Music is quite extensive... I like pretty much everything, from Metal to Hip Hop, Psytrance to Blues. My favourite at the moment is chilled out electronic music, anything with a funky beat to dance to. Can't really pick out a specific band or group, as I like too many of them...

As for film interests, I like things that make me scared. ANd things that make me laugh... and especially films that make you lean your head to one side, whilst doing this: umm and saying Huh? to yourself for the first hour or so, and then suddenly Click! it all makes sense.

I love to drink lots of tea, not really a coffee person, but now and again is cool. I challenge you to make Coffee to my Specifications!!

As for the Damn Marmite, Vegemite, Nutella question... They're all OK I wouldn't go so far as to favour one... I believe in equal opportunity and all that... However, none come close to a cup of Chai with a double Brandy in it... biggrin

I can be found in many places, Mainly in Guildford during Academic Holidays, At in Hull during term times, For I am in my second year of studying Spanish at Uniservity. I have recently found I have a penchant for hanging out with some weird, juggly, spinny people in Hastings, and can now and again be found there for a week or two of silliness and spinning...

So yeah, That's what I do. I'm also Sweet and Innocent.

Birthday threads are over-rated... They disappear to the bottom for ever after a few days, whereas this way it's immortalized in my intro for ever... *disclaimer: the preceding statement may or may not represent my true beliefs...* wink

*builds a statue with them*

Oh, and in my defence against your earlier statement, I've actually been Devilsticking longer than DsAds... It's only Durbs that I want to be when I grow up... tongue wink

What an interesting Day I've had!!

I've agreed to help out with the learning partnerships office At my Uni, and what they do is show Kids from local schools around the University as a way to get them to focus on their studies more in secondary education, with the aim of achieving high enough grades to get into University. These Kids are about 9/10 years old. and we'll get a different school come to visit every week. Anyway...

Started off Early (for me) 10am. I had been out the night before, juggling for another Society who were putting on an amateur DJ night at a local club, so my feet hurt, and I'm knackered. Met the Kids, who, surprisingly, where lovely. No cheeky little gits, nothing. Showed them around the Campus, explaining things as we go. My feet hurt more. inquisitive little bunch, but more than OK, nonetheless. smile

Had dinner with them. They were cool still. Then after Dinner, they had a little Juggling workshop. smile My favourite bit. Allowing all of us to blow off steam with a little playtime. Excellent. After that, a couple of group activities, and they worked really well together. One little girl was upset because she couldn't do her Idea, and I noticed her sitting back away from everyone else, with an unhappy look on her face, so I went up to her, sat next to her and had a litle chat, and managed to 'persuade her into thinking she had come up with another idea, that was actually better, all by herself...' (as you do with Kids). she then began smiling again, and getting involved with everyone else. Made me feel proud that I'd stopped her feeling upset and left out. biggrin

After that, they all said thank you for the day, and all left with big smiles on their faces. I never realised how rewarding working with children could be. I came away from the day feeling as if I had achieved so much, with such an amazing, high, sense of well being. No kiddy temper tantrums, or upset children, anything. I think I've stumbled across what I would really like to do as a profession...

Now tonight...

I have another workshop planned... Busy busy busy... This one should turn into more of a playtime, though, so I can learn too... smile

Sounds like you had a good day. I think you would make a fantastic teacher smile

However, not all kids are always going to be little angels though, in fact I'm suprised you didn't have to deal with any temper tantrums with 9/10 yr olds, because if I was 9 years old and forced to visit a uni I'd be pretty pissed off....but the again I was a little brat...

On the other hand.....if I had you as a tour guide... ubblol tongue

Ed, i can relate to your feeling of niceness after working with the kids... My lot are a bunch of pains in the ass, but once you see them on stage (in my case) its such a joy to see them doing something magical and directing their energy that way, i wouldn't schange them for the world! Except for the 8 yr old that kept fiddling with her radio mike... I could have killed her smile

Edit: You are coming to mancherster on the 19th?

I'm afraid the hipthrust is all FRD's work... not mine... I think Neon Shaolin was referring to my need to pop my chest more... shrug

And as for my ridiculous skill... Pah! your spinning is way better than mine!! tongue And I think we forgot about the fact that other people actually put their Uni work ahead of spinning... ubblol
