I live in the centre of Salford, and while my particular area ISN'T drug n guns n drive by bad at ALL it is a tad dingy. Yet even in the middle of such an ugly urban sprawl the passing of the seasons hits me with such sheer breathtaking gorgeousness that even walking to my local supermarket takes me about 15 mins longer than it should cos I am constantly stopping to look at flowers and trees and bushes and stuff.

This morning it had been raining (in MANCHESTER? no!) and when I went for a walk the ground was damp and there were about a hundred million shades of sparkly green. It was odd, like i could breathe in new life like spring was about to, um, spring, rather than it being the tail end of a wet summer and autumn is about to land. I was walking down a city centre estate street with a gimpy mad smile on my face like i'd found a tenner when I rounded a corner and BANG! There it was. The most delicious tree, a delightful mixture of greens and reds and golds and pale yellows. Still in full leaf, shouting at the world how bloody lovely it looked. I stood stock still and just drank in its beauty for about 10 minutes, and because of THAT tree, and how it looked today...I feel wonderful and have for hours.

Does the wonder of nature affect anyone else in here so profoundly or am I some kind of weirdo hippy who should save other people the embarressment of conversing with me and hole up in a wood somewhere eating acorns and drinking sap from trees?

Oh you're definately some kind of weirdo hippy. Nice to meet you wave
Having two dogs I walk first thing in the morning I see so many things. Flowers opening day by day, the change of the seasons - we've actually had some sun smile smile Spring is coming and the days are getting longer. I can feel an itch in my feet I always get this time of year - Summers a-comin' and I'm ready biggrin

coupla times a month....especially after playing with fire in my local park and temporarily interupting the peace and quiet. I made a little tin to catch access fuel when shaking off my poi and its a pain in the arse and takes ages but burning fossil fuels without the need to keep warm is bad ENOUGH without splattering it all over the grass and insects and worms etc. Alas....it appears us nature loons are far and few between!

around 90 people looked so far (I bet all pervs after seeing me naked, hehehe....didnt mean THAT kind of beauty people, chuckle) and only one reply.

Still...your reply was lovely so hello you too x!

Yes - this is definately my favourite time of year for walking around looking at all the colours. I love autumn when the trees are turning - you see such beautiful colours everywhere and feel the leaves crunching under your feet (although the leaves are wet at the mo). I have so many autumn photos!

This is my favorite time of the year in San Diego. Surprise! not the summer.

The air changes texture, the leaves get that nice crunchy sound when rolling through the grass. The air is cold, but not freezing. *ahh's* Nice breeze in through the window.

that scene is so amazing!
I am never happier than when I'm outside on a gorgeous day, hiking in the mountains or just walking down my street. Fall is definately in the air, and I love it!

Andy, I know exactly how you feel. I've just moved back down to Brighton, right in the middle of the kind of "urban sprawl" of it all... I was so happy when I found I could hear the wind in the tree in my neighbour's back garden all night. I come from the country and it's very difficult to live in a city, at least until you've properly adjusted to it, which I almost have. But as long as I can here the trees, look out my window and see the leaves turn blood-red and fall... that's OK.

The autumn is the best time of year. The summer is great, but the autumn.. the air is so clear, and the sky is either perfect blue or shrouded in rain.. piles of fallen leaves up every street, the most beautiful sunsets out over the sea... the air cold so you can feel it inside you, and so you have to wrap up warm before you go outside... smile

So many people walk through their lives never noticing the beauty which surrounds them - it's such a shame. Even if you do live in a city, there are tiny creatures all around you, strange plants and trees growing up from under your feet... it's so beautiful. As is this thread.

On Sunday there was a red kite in the sky above us, just hovering, we thought it was a buzzard at first, then it turned in the sky and the light brought out the red as we saw the forked tail.

Beautiful. Only the second one we have seen round here.

wicked wicked and once again brilliant! thanks peeps...glad i aint the only on. it has long been a theory of mine that if MORE people took MORE notice of the gorgeousness that surrounds them in their everydy life then there would be a lot less misery around about. cheers
