so i reckon this thread will hold a record of the new things and stuff im learning along the way, all input of any kind is welcome...

*edit*

*where was I? oh yeah here, The elbow, arm, arm elbow roll*

Its simple really, I cant do it.

I've seen some real nice clips of this move (Thankyou MCP/Glass) but I still seem to be missing somthing fundamental.

So I take the staff in my right hand, bring it accross my body under my extended left elbow and roll. extend left arm and let staff roll onto right arm. Bring staff back towards body on right arm

Now here is the problem, it just stops working there, I think i might be missing an extra beat/spin or something. Or it it could be the position of my wrist. Dont ask me what my wrist is doin, it goes all wonky in a natural reaction to the feeling of the staff falling off when i start bending my right arm on the way back in,

Any ideas?

If I can get this I'll move onto to trying to combine it with a shoulder rool and a turn to get it across my back and other shoulder.

I'm hoping to put up a clip soon, not of what i cant do but of what I can, after six months it's be cool to get some HOP feedback.

Love is the law.

but if you say ado, you actually pronounce it right, whereas saying adop and adoo-p are both wrong. (supposedly.)

I think I'll just call you adobe.

Is this a fishtail thread now?

I can't find a nice way to do inverted fishtails. Mo-seph help.

You really don't have any work to do at work do you?

I won't no. I have to do work at uni.

But I will tell you this: inverted fishtails are fishtails in "negative space", ie with your arm curled over the staff and your hand inward, so your fishtailing at your hip. It's one part of a 3 beat fishtail. Ben does a short inverted fishtail in his video, methinks. But then he is obsessed. wink

can you change your name to ado-b?

Not really so bendy

You can already do half of it...

Its the same thing as when you trap it on the back of your hand (back of hand, over forearm, under bicep) and stop it or carry it to the other side... we were playing with these in juggling at trinity on tuesday night...

but it comes back out into a fishtail... the other half is a mystery to me though

hurry up and get to cork....

chi balls are cool. They forced me to learn my MOST pointless fishtail yet. Fishtails on the other side of your wrist. (the underside!) How much more pointless can fishtails get? Yay!

I did try elbow fishtails in my room, but I distroyed stuff so I stopped.

Tomorrow I will try moving fishtails up my arm and see what happens.

Fun fun fun.

angel rolls are easy if u understand the arm movement basically u start with the staff infront of you rolling over the back of your hand from little finger to thumb and lift your arm up (makes it roll down your arm) and bring it from infront of your body to behind (this gives your arm a nice surface to roll over kind of like a whole arm fishtail in concept with moving the surface for the staff to roll over so it doesnt roll off) then do the reverse movement as your arm comes out. you can do it from a fishtail but its easier to start from static. to get into it from fishtail u sort of change direction half way from the front to back.

No, I mean doing a fishtail with the underside of your wrist. Like with your palm up. Like upsidedown fishtails. (But they're not upsidedown, they're just with your arm upsidedown)

When I say elbow's I mean baton twirler style.

When i say moving the fishtail up my arm, I mean doing a fishtail on the forearm, arm straight. So ie, you start on the wrist, and move it up your arm. Like doing a devilstick propellor with your hand, then moving it up your arm, by pushing your arm through it and doing the propellor on your forearm to elbow to upperarm (if you can) to shoulder. At which point, a vertical matrix becomes a possiblity.

Hmmmm vertical matrix.

possible yes stupidly hard though, trying to do a propeller near your shoulder is really hard as its difficult to get the movement to maintain the motion due to the size of the movement required from an area with little displacement motion available, let me know how to do it once u get it this is now your challenge, suceed and they will sing your name in folk songs, fail and u will go to the firey pit of hell

i expect a video once u get this stuff miss megan

lavatwlight im still awaiting a certain file smile

got the first half of the angel smile

found a nice change of direction

came about while i was playing about with knoxious elbow traps and the continious wrist elbow wrap

i've been playing with the elbow wrap starting on my right arm spinning clockwise

instead of doing a normal wrap... when it wraps my hand im bending my hand back so my fingers are pointing up and then lifting my forearm in more of an upwards motion rather than back so the staff rolls down my forearm. its just a small varation but it makes for easy stall at the end of the forearm roll. i let it go behind my head and roll over my opposite shoulder in the opposite direction

not hard at all but it feels nice

got some more 360 fishtails on my right arm too

and a two beat fishtail. moseph showed me this but i cant remember where the third beat is confused

damn i love fishtails

ubblove

plane change

inspired by bluecat

spinning horizontal

stop the staff at the bottom of a steve/neck wrap so its trapped between the back of your neck and the front of your shoulder

lean back a little and lift the staff with the shoulder its resting on, tilt back your head and turn your body a little so the staff rolls slowly across the front of your neck

and now that im paying attention to my feet i managed a full halo snes halo

hug for mcp
