Does anyone own, or has anyone thought of making some fixed crosses?
As in a double staff cross, but permanently fixed in a cross, thus removing the need to grip them the entire time and and also meaning you can have a normal thickness as opposed to double-staff thickness.
Was just thinking they'd be fun to play with - especially doubles (quads?) and not too tricky to make...
Would make contact crosses alot easier and cross throws - mmmmmmm

there is two ideas here...
the fist is a ring around all four staffs to hold in place, then a round plate inside that with screws in it to hold the staffs together inside the first ring that runs horizontally around all the staffs to the vertical cap effect of the inner ring that just covers the staff ends and hold together
the 2nd idea would probably be a lot simpler, and could be made from sheet of steal easily with snips.
make the cross shape, and place on staffs to hold them together, use an e-poxie resin to glue the plate to the staffs, and make it impossibly strong, then bend the top panels round the staffs and screw into place, doing the same on the other side?
Both of these designs work on the principle that you don’t use full length staffs; you would use one full length staff, i.e. one 4ft, and then cut the other staff down and butt it up against the primary full staff!
Do you get what I mean?

Durbs - do a search on double crosses or something like that - I know I've added my 2 cents worth on fixed crosses a few times - discussions about how to make them and how to manipulate them - there was a very interesting discussion about planes and crosses....

yeha I reckon the opening closing cross is the way to go
(although Flash Fire makes fixed crosses look very fluid)
