I've got my dates for the Berlin trip. Arrival November 2nd and departure November 13. This is going to be so very cool even if I have to work during the day.

Oooohhhh Nix has visited me! Glad to see you around.
No ash Aurora. So far there has been a lot of smoke, but according to the reports none of the ash has actually gotten out of the bowl. The last that I've heard there hasn't been any lava flow. So we've been lucky so far. Keep your fingers crossed, we don't need Helen blowing it's top again.

I heard that this erruption though wasn't gonna be anywhere near the same strength as the blast in 1980 that killed about 60 people. (who were dumb enough to be that close to it and not listen to what the scientists were saying...and some of them were a couple crazy scientists as well)
I also heard that there is a new glacier that's been forming on the back side of the volcano. It's been building since the 80's and hasn't been named yet. I wonder if us citizens could name it or if there is a system to cover that already?

Gidg No getting frazzled by a Volcano please. Who else would I have to be silly with on HoP?
Make a few offerings to Hephaestus/pele (depends on if you think its a god or goddess in charge) to soothe the anger of the mountain.

Yeah, they are predicting something in the next 24 hours. Depending on how high the plum goes will depend on if I get any ash or not. It's a little scarry because I was in Texas back in 80 so I didn't experience all the ash the last time. What would really freak me out is if Mount Hood decided to blow it's top. From my house I can get to the highest driving point in less than an hour. *shudder*

Skully, Pele and I have an arrangement. I ignore her and she ignores me, so far it's worked out fine.

I hope you are safe from Mt St Helens fallout, it must be rather scary being within reach.
I just read your bio, and have to tell you that you're not the oldest person posting on HoP, by quite a lot! I might be the only one who got on it because of her offspring. You might have come across MagstheJedi? I'm not a good spinner yet, though, need loads of practice and probably some tuition. Magnus can't teach me 'cos I'm half a world away from him here downunder

Actually it's nice knowing that there are older (older than 20) getting into spinning. You mean there is someone here older than me? WOW, just goes to show there are miracles happening in the world all over.
Mount St Helens did a little blow but is settling down for a while. No lava flow and I've been lucky that the wind hasn't brought any ash my way. But you can hardly see the mountian because of all the ash surrounding the area.
RosieMary where are you in Victoria? I'm making a trip down to Australia in February/March and I'm going to be in Melbourne for a week or so (at least I think it's Melbourne that's in Victoria, I don't remember correctly)

Gidg, my home is in the suburb of Mt Waverley, SE of the city of Melbourne. I work full time, so give me a little warning and I'll make time. There are two spinning groups I know of, but I haven't visited yet, just haven't had the chance. They sound like good guys. When you get nearer the time, send me a PM and I'll send you a phone number.
I'm not all that conventional for my age, although I generally look reasonably normal, but if I tell you the motorcycle Mags rides was my cast-off, you might get a clue to me. He was five the first time I took him on my pillion. I just like to do what it appeals to me to do, and if that doesn't fit my 'look', my age or anything else - tough! Right now I'm attempting spinning, a dodgy arm is making it hard but I persevere.
Great having a yak on HoP, have a great life and see you early next year.
