Posted: In May myself and Anna organised our annual Juggling and Circus Skills event at Laurieston Hall with 36 fire and UV enthusiasts.
We've had some noteable Poi Spinners along in the past, but this was the first time we had a lovely bunch of people from this fantastic site taking part.
So I wanted to draw attention to our annual 3 day event in near Swindon:
We have 35 places and 15 deposits in already. This event has never yet sold out in 11 years but it looks like it might just do that next year so you've had your warning!
You may be able to spot one or two noteable HoP personalities on the web pages plus "The UK's most successful Poi Spinner".
Hope to see some of you again and meet more spinners in August.
I encourage those of you who attended to tell everyone about the fantastic venues, lovely food, relaxed atmosphere, stunning fire show, good company, table football or whatever you enjoyed the most...
Many thanks!

I have enjoyed all of your events, that I have attended, and I can truly say that what I have learned from You, Anna, and the various participants, has definately changed my life for the better.
Sorry I missed Laurieston this Year, but I am definately planning to be at Lower Shaw Farm
Posted: Good to hear from you too Fable mate! Thanks for your kind words - I've learned much from you too. Really looking forward to enjoying a few days with you again.
Book soon though. I've just heard from Andrea at the Farm - 19 bookings so far.
Posted: This event is a BLINDER ! Can't recommend it highly enough! simply come to one of these courses and be blown away. I have been going for nearly ten years, these are the perfect way to springboard yourself from amateur to proffessional.
Keep up the good work you guys!

Jim, I have been so efficient that I sent you a copy of the video ages ago, yet it is still on my floor here It'll be with you soon. Hope you 3 are spinningly happy. If I don't see you before I'll see you for a spin @ Laurieston
Guy, good to see you at Glasto, damn that's an awesome weekend! did you get a copy of the vid?
Posted: FireMorph! Great to hear from you. I was just thinking of you yesterday and planning to get in touch.
No sauna at Lower Shaw but there is usually a sweatlodge available with an old bath to jump into
Good to hear that you and the Axis met up at Glasto. I look forward to going back in future years - we got a bit "piltonned-out" a few years ago. Things are more sorted now I hear. At least I have some great Glastonbury tales of our time to tell the Grandchildren....
Looking forward to seeing the vid.
Hope the performing etc. is developing well for you

Posted: i believe 'anna', referred to in the first post here is 'anna semlyen', nee 'jillings'.
she wrote a pretty good book on clubswinging i heard.
guess if she does poi then that makes her a pretty successful poi spinner...

Posted: Apologies. I should have said 'probably "The UK's most successful Poi Spinner"' or more accurately 'In my humble opinion "The UK's most successful Poi Spinner"'. Admittedly, my experience is limited.
Maybe I should have kept quiet. He/she is an inspiration to myself and many though. I'm delighted that we have such a range of participants on our events, from complete beginner through to professional. Makes the events such a rich blend of personalities. I don't want to embarrass the person I was referring to - but they are a regular contributor to this board and appear on our web site - but in disguise.
Its not Anna, whilst an excellent poi spinner technically I think she sees herself primarily as a club swinger/pole spinner. She's not a HoP visitor. Others spring to mind who may be more successful UK club swingers ( ) than anna (but I'm very biased) depending on what criteria you use - Sharon Haddock, Kati Yla-Hokkala & Ben Richter for example.
I was quoting Michal Kahn, author of "Poi Spinning" and within my knowledge I agree with her. This poi spinner is successful in that he/she is technically amazing, a circus school trained performer, has honed routines over several years, has great costumes & stunning publicity material, is multi-talented, seems to get bookings everywhere and regularly collaborates with other professional performers on special projects. He/she is also generous teacher and fun to be with.
I'm sure there are others who also have all these attributes but I've not met them yet.
