Seems as if the US is running out of supplies of "Sodium-Thiopental", used as a drug in lethal injections...

Manufacturer "Hospira" ceased production in the US and wanted to continue in Italy... only that it got banned from export to the US, because there it is used to kill people.

As a result, a murderer in Oklahoma was killed, using a veterinary anesthetic....

In an open letter to manufacturers and suppliers, German secretary of health department called not to satisfy requests of the US for any drugs used in lethal injections.

Unfortunately there is no base on which export can be banned in Germany - or Union-wide - to legally ban all exports in this relation...

"Why do we kill people, who killed people, to prove that the killing of people is wrong?"

Kind of contradictory that Italy bans export for humanitarian reasons, but neither Germany nor the Union as a whole can... dunno. shrug

When the Italian supply dried up two British companies stepped in to 'help'.

Well this is Oklahoma so my guess is their logic was a mixture of a. Rules is rules b. It's God's will and c. We're doing this to show up Texas. Also whether or not American Idol was on that night will most likely make a huge impact on how quickly they wanted a solution.

Killing people aside, the whole prison system has some serious flaws in it.

I do not support death sentances only because, as was said, no matter the crime commited I don't think killing someone is the right thing to do under any circumstance.

Make love not war.

... not to speak of posthumous proof of innocence.

Yea - where business is to be made, people are ready to fill in.... shown by the fact of Union gun manufacturers making the big bucks in the US handgun market. shrug

as read in the article:

"A pharmaceutical company operating out of a west London driving school has been supplying thousands of pounds worth of drugs used in executing death row inmates in Arizona, according to US court documents."

Sounds as if they'd also cook up Amphetamines... DODGY!
