Ok, for a very long time I've been trying to figure this one out. I gave up and decided to ask. How do you do the move Nick is doing at 1:35-1:40

I tried, whirling in one direction worked a bit, but I could never get it to come out looking like that.

As far as I can tell Jameth is right, though I think he also brings it up to a windmill and back down once or twice. Bad footage to try and tell, though.

It's just turning with hip reels, just do a bunch of hip reels and try turning with them, your poi will do 2 beats on one side and 1 beat on the other side. If you're doing less beats than that then it's a pirouette, and more beats and you're not turning continuously. It's kind of hard to resist the temptation to do meltdowns, but if you force your hands to be at your sides all the time it makes it easier.

Ok, it seems what I find wrong when I do it is because it does 1 beat on one side and 2 on the other is that they end op meeting each other and tangling.

So thats a way to think about the turns in general... but what nick is doing is actually slightly different...
He's spinning his poi twice as fast as he is spinning his body!
This means he's getting one rotation on each side before it swaps to the other (whereas the whirl in the video above has one rotation of the poi per 360 rotation of the body)
Does that make sense?

If you do it any other way you'll end up confusing yourself. Do it with the pauses til it feels about right.
