One could definitely do poi without eyes...though I think it's much more pleasant to ask, could one do poi with his/her eyes closed? I like to zone out and spin with my eyes closed all the time.

However, if you weren't able to see, I think it would be much harder to learn in the first place.

You couldn't spin with your eyeballs because your optic nerve isn't long enough to use as a string. Besides, they'd splatter if you hit yourself and then where would you be?

Anyways... I reckon that if you had your eyeballs trained... as in stretched gradually they could pop loose and then you could twirl em... just an idea if you really dont fancy eating your food.

A collegue of mine once told me he had to have one of his eyes popped out at the hospital because it had glass in it. He said it was the most bizarre thing to be able to look straight ahead and down at your feet both at the same time.

Are we nearly there yet?
